Bishop DiMarzio visited the school on September 29 for the first time. Among the gifts given to him at a luncheon was McClancy's version of a red hat!
The school is launching a capital campaign for the future of McClancy. Planning meetings to determine the needs of the school are currently being held throughout the year. A company named Semple-Bixel is organizing the campaign. The the office of the president and the development office are taking the leadership in this area.
What's going on in the parking lot? Lots of stuff! The boiler room is being expanded into the parking lot at the east end in order to house the heating and cooling systems machinery which comes along with the soundproofing of the school. The ceilings in the mall and the gym will also be altered to accomodate air conditioning ducts and soundproofing materials. Our classrooms will no longer have radiators near the windows. As a matter of fact, the windows will be replaced in a year's time. Other alterations will be noticed eventually in the hallway ceilings and elsewhere!
The Brothers have a new residence at St. Stanislaus Parish in Maspeth. This residence replaces the one at Regina Pacis in Brooklyn. No more B-Q expressway for Brother Donald!
A beautiful new 20 foot hanging/painting depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus is now displayed on the right of the main entrance to the school. This was painted by a Brother in England.
The mall has a new ceiling replacing the former dropped tile ceiling. Above the ceiling are air conditioning ducts and soundproofing material.
Reports, transcripts, data bases for McClancy have a new look. With the demise of the UAPC's system, McClancy switched to an in-house program called Administrative Plus. The entire system has been installed and updated by Brothers Lucien and Ron!
What used to be a teachers' lunchroom in the school cafeteria is now being made into a campus ministry office.
A Board of Governors for McClancy has been appointed by the Provincial Council this year. Besides the president and principal of the school, members who have expertise in Church and Education fields, financial administration, capital plant/construction, public relations and marketing, public and private business, corporate relations and law are represented.
Three new teachers have been added to the faculty: Pressie DeMontero, a science teacher; Christina Constanza, a Spanish teacher; William Biangasso, a Social Studies teacher.
A new Board of Governors has been appointed under the leadership of the President of the School.
A new campus ministry program led by Mr. Olivard has been established this year.
Mr. Nick Melito has been named as an Assistant to the President.
Ms. Louise Robinson has become the Principal's administrative assistant; Mrs. Susan Schook has become the new administrative assistant in the Office of Advancement and Alumni.
Thanks to the efforts of Mr. Tripp, the hallways have a bright new look!
