There will a short homework assignment each day, a midterm, a final and four essays in this course. The grade you receive will be calculated as follows:

Homework Assignments-30%, Each exam-10%   Each essay-12.5%

I will provide more information about the work requirements as the term goes on.

There will be absolutely no make-up assignments of any kind in this class unless I determine that there is a legitimate excuse. A prerequisite for a legitimate excuse is that you either contact me or leave a message with the English Department secretary (x6420) before the assignment is due. I cannot imagine a catastrophe so extreme that you cannot get a message to me yet which leaves you still concerned with making up the missed work.
