This is a digitally massaged family shot made by Mark Diamond of Panoramic Images in Miami. You can probably recognize the members of this family. As the father, I am currently working at the University of Miami in the Neurology Department. Being an EEG/Epilepsy Fellow in Neurology is a real challenge because it has involved going back to school in a big way. But 30 years of experience in Psychiatry is a real help for learning to assist people who have epilepsy. My past clinical work has been based in both Belle Glade and Miami, Florida, and I do custom work with both individuals and groups. "Custom work" sounds flip, but the process demands a lot of focus, sincerity, and heart-felt application of the God-given abilities that we all have. Even if you do not believe in a Creator or a Supreme Being, I assure you that you have these abilities. Whether it's "Executive Health Plans" for modern corporations, treating epilepsy on an individualized basis, or simply training an individual to abort Migraine Headaches with skin temperature biofeedback(and other necessary modalities, depending on the migrainous symptoms), I try to counter the trend in today's mass-marketed, fast food-like medical care and treatment. Of course there are still lots and lots of physicians who care very much and in fact dedicate all of their lives to helping others. Part of the reason that many of our true healers are not very visible (at least in the media) is that they are pretty overworked and too tired to be grandstanding very much. You can have an EEG done in my current office at the International Center for Epilepsy in Miami, and as a Fellow in Neurology, I am privileged to work with three very outstanding neurologists who are specialized in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of epilepsy. They are R. Eugene Ramsay, M.D., John C. DeToledo, M.D., and Merredith R. Lowe, M.D. Such specialists are called EPILEPTOLOGISTS. My personal interests include not only epilepsy, but a wide variety of electrophysiologic and microcurrent treatments, biofeedback, hypnosis, and meditation. Some of my research projects will probably involve treating healthy volunteers for low or reduced fees. I believe that the patient should be in the driver's seat when it comes to healthcare. Or at least the patient needs to be a real partner with his/her physician and other health-care providers. You can fax me in Miami at 1-305-243-7668 if you wish to communicate with me. Some of my patients in RL (Real Life) actually use email, and it can sure save on gas bills. [[ mgilula@mindspring.com ]]

My dad says thanks very much for being a virtual visitor to LERI. Even if you don't send us email, make it a GREAT day and take heart in the fact that the chunk of rock we live on hasn't yet been incinerated. I have lived in Tokyo most of my life and am now studying English at Hunter College in New York City. One of my most serious dreams is to win a scholarship to some good university in the United States. Dad believes that I could be a great professional singer, like my mom, but I prefer to find my own unique way. [[ akikokg@mindspring.com ]]
