![]() Air Force selects 49 for test pilot trainingReleased: 23 Feb 2000 RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas (AFPN) -- The Air Force has selected 49 officers to take part in the service's test pilot program. A selection board met at the Air Force Personnel Center here Jan. 24-27 to consider 107 applicants. Most of those selected will attend the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot school at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Two selectees have been chosen to attend the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., while another selectee will attend the French Test Pilot School at Istres, France. Three others will attend the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio, where they will earn a master's degree in aeronautical or electrical engineering before reporting to test pilot school at Edwards in January 2002.
