Greer, SC:

Greer Golf & Country Club

This is a private course, but well worth playing if you can get on. It's run by my brother's father in-law. His name's Mac, and he's a really nice guy. So, if you go by make sure to say hello. This course is really short, but that doesn't make it any easier. It's fairly narrow and is bordered on most holes by trees or water. There are a lot of vertical changes throughout the course and they make things very interesting. I love this course, and can't wait until I can play it again.

Las Vegas, NV:

Angel Park
702-254-GOLF (4653), 100 S Rampart Blvd, Las Vegas, NV.
They have two Arnold Palmer designed 18-hole courses (Mountain and Palm), a 12-hole par three (they change the course layout at night, and light 9 of the holes for after-dark play), a 18-hole putting course, a grass and mat driving range with real greens and sand traps for targets, and excellent food in the clubhouse. The frozen lemonades are scrumptious, and can be found in the clubhouse and at the snack-shack on both courses. This a very nice place, but can be expensive.

Boulder City Municipal
702-293-9236, 1 Clubhouse Dr, Boulder City, NV.
This course is very wide open which makes it fun to play for the average hacker (like me). Typically, a drive well left or well right is still in the fairway. Of course, it's probably the fairway of a different hole, but it's still a fairway. There are some elevation changes to keep things interesting. The price is reasonable, and I enjoy this course very much.

The Legacy
702-897-2187, 130 Par Excellence Dr, Las Vegas, NV.
Located in the Southeast part of town. Very nice, but can be expensive. The course has houses and apartments on the sides, and they can come into play off the tee.

What a beautiful course! This is billed as a local's favorite, and now it's also one of mine. It wanders through the pines and makes for an absolutely awesome round of golf. It's not cheap, but it's well worth the price. It is a great alternative to the several hundred dollars they charge at some of the more famous Pinehurst courses.

I didn't get to play this course, but I did take a look at the front nine and it looked like a very nice course. The back nine is supposed to be the best part though. It was built in and around an old gravel pit, and is apparently a really neat place to play golf and enjoy the scenery. The next time I get to Pinehurst I'm playing this course.
