Practical Solutions to Individual Leadership Challenges

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Why do we go to Peru? Why not closer to home? Isn't it more expensive this way?

A. We go to Peru because:

1) You can only experience the wonderful Inca sites by going there. They provide not only inspiration, but also raise valuable questions and provide insights on how the Inca's approaches and beliefs might inform modern day leaders.  For example:

•  The Incas were one of the few cultures that used diplomacy in their efforts to acquire more territory
•  They used various strategies of integrating the native political and religious systems into those of the empire
•  The Inca state was made up of a collection of groups with varying political, ethnic, and linguistic characteristics.  This unique civilization  was able to   efficiently organize the population of nearly six million people into a unified workforce
•  Ultimately, the Inca achievement was the product of the highly developed organizational skills of the Inca elite, which enabled them to direct the people and resources of hundreds of different independent societies, representing dozens of different ethnic groups and perhaps as many different languages

2) The Peruvian sites, countryside, and retreat center where we spend many days all have their own special power to move, inform, and refresh you.

3) By getting far away from your familiar home base, you can truly unhook from your day-to-day routine, see things in a different light, and have a real opportunity for introspection and discussion.

4) It costs no more to go to Peru than it would to go to a nice resort conference center in the USA because airfare to Cuzco is quite reasonable and food and lodging costs are on a par or less than they would be in the USA.

5) The most significant cost differences between this program and less expensive tourist oriented programs are:

  • This program is led by a qualified experienced corporate consultant.

  • The group size is kept small to enhance the quality of the experience.

  • This trip is longer than others.

  • The quality of food and lodging is superior to many other trips.

In short, you get what you pay for.

Q:  Is it safe to go to Peru?

A:  Yes.  Peru in general is a safe place to visit and groups are experiencing no problems in Cusco or the Sacred Valley where we will spend our time.

Q:  Are shots required?

A:  No.  Travel clinics will recommend optional ones.

Q:  I've heard that El Niño has affected this area.

A:  Peru gets quite a bit of rainfall annually and flooding is somewhat common, therefore the natives are efficient at recovering from flood waters.  The dates selected for the program are specifically during Peru's dry season to avoid that problem.

Note:  There is an extensive information packet that is provided for program enrollees that addresses everything a person wants, or needs to know for a comfortable and healthy trip.
