I find that faith and spiritual life take on many forms. There are
outward acts of prayer and service. There are crafts like music that
speak in their own inner language. And there are day-to-day
quirks of living that simply bring pleasure to the soul. Here are glimpses
of three things that make me happy. More still on the

I have come to think of my Bahá'í friends as my village. We
meet together, befriend each other, celebrate happy events, help with the children.

guiding influence upon our lives. I will try to share a bit about how
I became a Bahá'í and what it is like to live by Bahá'í
principles.

Instruments come in and out of favor, but always I return to the piano. The

How about the spiritual benefits of keeping well-stocked bird feeders and nice
clean birdbaths?
Oh, I am certain this could be the foundation of a whole elaborate Birdist
practice. But yes, you're right, there is much to be said for integrating
the path of the spirit with everyday tasks. I find digging in the garden
physically taxing, but spiritually refreshing. Pal the dog and I go for
huge long walks together and both come back exhausted and happy.
Swimming in the warm ocean waters in Hawaii, now there's something to lift
your soul. Some of the most heartfelt prayers happen
out of doors and don't involve any words.
