It was the biggest spot the ad agency had ever done... It may have been the biggest spot done at that time, period... In the company's wisdom, they carved out $50,000 to make a "making of..." documentary on the process.
Well, the commercial was never shown much, but the 45-minute documentary was absolutely great... Showed the insanity of the process from conception to execution... The out-takes were hilarious as the filmmaker had access to every meeting and had interviews with all the key and even some lesser players... There were incredible meetings, where hours were wasted over some of the most nitpicking stuff, only for the players to come back full circle and accept the original idea.
Needless to say, the ad agency buried this documentary... No one ever saw it, except those of us fortunate enough to work at the company at the time.
