Transcribed by Steve Looney -- 26 JUNE 1999 /// If you can assist with missing/questionable words, please email cslooney@mozark1.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- Absalom Looney To Letter(?) estate of Rhoda Looney deceased State of Arkansas County of Randolph The State of Arkansas; To all persons whom these presents shall come greeting: Know ye that, whereas Rhoda Looney of the County of Randolph, died intestate as it is said on or about the 18th day of August A.D. 1847, having at the time of her death personal property in the State which may be lost, destroyed, or diminished in value if _____ (?) case be not taken of the same: to the end therefore that the said property may be collected, preserved, and disposed of according to law, we do hereby appoint Absalom Looney as adminstrator, of all and singular the goods and chattles, rights and credits which were of the said Rhoda Looney at the time of her death, with full power and authority to secure and dispose of the said property according to law, and collect all moneys due said deceased, and in general to do and perform all other acts and things which are or hereafter may be required of him by law. In Testimony whereof I Thomas G. Man Clerk of the Circuit Court and exofficio Clerk of the Court of Probate in and for the County of Randolph aforesaid have hereunto set my hand and affirmed the seal of said Court at office this 26th day of October A.D. 1847 Thos. Absalom Looney To Affidavit Rhoda Looney deceased State of Arkansas County of Randolph I Absalom Looney do solemnly swear that the value of the estate of Rhoda Looney deceased, and upon whose estate I have _____ (?) letters of administration, is not to the best of my knowledge and belief more than one hundred dollars, that said Rhoda Looney died without making a will leaving the following heirs to wit Elizabeth Ferril the heirs of Pleasant Stubblefield, the heirs of John Wells the heirs of Abraham Stubblefield, Absalom Looney Epps Looney Wm. S. Looney Michael Looney and Tempy Pittman all of whom reside in the County of Randolph aforesaid. That I will make a perfect inventory of, and faithfully administer, all and singular the goods and chattles, rights and credits of the deceased, and pay her debts, as far as the assets which may come to my hands will extend and the law direct, and that I will account for, and pay sum(?) according to law all assets which shall come to my hands or possession so help me God. Signed with our hands and sealed with our seals this 26th day of October A.D. 1847 "The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bonder, Absalom Looney, administrator of all and singular, the goods and chattles, rights and credits of Rhoda Looney deceased, shall make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular, the goods and chattles, rights, and credits of the deceased, which have or may come to the hands or possession or knowledge of him the said Absalom Looney or unto the hands or possession of any other person for him, and the same so made shall return and ________ (?) the office of the Clerk of the Court of the above obligation, and all and singular, the goods and chattles, rights and credits of the deceased, which shall come to the hands, possession or knowledge of him the said Absalom Looney, he shall will and truly administer according to law, and pay the debts of the deceased, as far as his assets will extend and the law direct; and, further, make or cause to be made just and true accounts of his administration, and make due and proper settlement thereof from time to time according to law, or the lawful order, sentence or decree of any court hearing, competent jurisdiction, and shall ______(?) will and truly do and perform all other matters and things touching(?) such administration that are or may be prescribed by laws or enjoined on such administration by lawful orders, sentence or decree of any Court hearing compentent jurisdiction, then the above obligation to be void and of no effect, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue."
