| There are many types of prayer. Adoration,
Intercession, Praise, Petition and Thanksgiving. The
Lord's
Prayer incorporates numerous petitions to God. Then there are prayers for different time of day as in morning prayer or evening prayer. There are prayers for different parts of a service such as communion prayers or offertory prayers. A hymn is a prayer set to music. Below I include first a hymn of praise, then an evening hymn. Next follows a hymn of thanksgiving followed by three communion hymns and last an Easter hymn of triumph. |

| Praise to the Lord, the Almighty | ||||
| Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, The King of creation! O my soul, Praise Him, for He is thy health and salvation! All ye who hear, Now to His temple draw near; Praise Him in glad adoration. 2. Praise to the Lord, who o'er all
things 3. Praise to the Lord, who doth 4. Praise to the Lord, O let all |

| Now the Day is Over | ||||
| 1. Now the day is over; Night is drawing nigh; Shadows of the evening Steal across the sky. 2. Jesus, give the weary Calm and sweet repose; With the tend'rest blessing May our eyelids close. 3. Comfort every suff'rer Watching late in pain; Those who plan some evil, From their sin restrain 4. Through the long night watches May your Angels spread Their bright wings above me, Watching 'round my bed 5. When the morning wakens, Then I may arise Pure and fresh and sinless In your holy eyes. 6. Glory to the Father, Glory to the Son, And to you, blest Spirit, While the ages run |

| For the Beauty of the Earth | ||||
| 1. For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies, for the love which from our birth over and around us lies; Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. 2. For the beauty of each hour of the day and of the night, hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light; Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise. 3. For the joy of ear and eye, |

| Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent | ||||
| Let all mortal flesh keep silence, and with fear and trembling stand; ponder nothing earthly-minded, for with blessing in his hand, Christ our God to earth descendeth, our full homage to demand. 2. King of kings, yet born of Mary, as of old on earth he stood, Lord of lords, in human vesture, in the body and the blood; he will give to all the faithful his own self for heavenly food. 3. Rank on rank the host of heaven spreads its vanguard on the way, as the Light of light descendeth from the realms of endless day, that the powers of hell may vanish as the darkness clears away. 4. At his feet the six-winged seraph, cherubim, with sleepless eye, veil their faces to the presence, as with ceaseless voice they cry: Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Lord Most High! |

| Love Divine , All Loves Excelling | ||||
| Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down; fix in us thy humble dwelling; all thy faithful mercies crown! Jesus thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art; visit us with thy salvation; enter every trembling heart. 2. Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit into every troubled breast! Let us all in thee inherit; let us find that second rest. Take away our bent to sinning; Alpha and Omega be; end of faith, as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty. 3. Come, Almighty to deliver, let us all thy life receive; suddenly return and never, nevermore thy temples leave. Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above, pray and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love. 4. Finish, then, thy new creation; pure and spotless let us be. Let us see thy great salvation perfectly restored in thee; changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise. |

| Therefore we before Him Bending | ||||
| Therefore we, before him bending; This great sacrament revere Types and shadows have their ending; For the newer rite is here Faith, our outward sense befriending; Makes the inward vision clear Glory let us give, and blessing; To the Father and the Son Honour, might and praise addressing; While eternal ages run Ever too his love confessing; Who from both, with both is one. Amen |

| The Strife is O'er | ||||
| Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! The strife is o'er, the battle done; Now is the Victor's triumph won; Now be the song of praise begun. Alleluia! Death's mightiest powers have done their worst, On the third morn He rose again He closed the yawning gates of hell; Lord, by the stripes which wounded Thee. |
