The club meets at 9:30 on the third Tuesday of the months September through November and January through April, usually in the Mississippi Room of the National Bank of Commerce on Main Street. The dates of the December and May meetings are determined each year depending on school schedules. All newcomers to the community are welcome at the meetings and are invited to join the club. Long term residents who support the purpose of the club are also eligible for membership.
The club year starts in June, when the new board takes office. Dues for '95-'96 are $10. Renewal notices are sent in July, and there is a membership coffee in August to encourage new residents to join. Membership benefits include invitations to socials, a subscription to the newsletter (about six issues/year), and eligibilty to join any or all of the interest groups which include Bridge, Book Discussion, Dinner Club, Crafts, Knit and Stitch, Lunch Club and Scout About. Any member may start a new interest group by volunteering to chair it.
The constitution and by-laws are ``gender nuetral'', but in recent years, all the members have been women. While many of the activities take place during the day, socials and dinner club meet in the evenings. We welcome suggestions for activities targeted to those caring for small children or preferring evening or weekend activities: these can be publicized in the newsletter.
