VA Charles Anderson 23 constable Martha 19 Sarah 17 Richard 15 John 13 Nelson 11 Andrew 9 Albert 7 In 1850 they have the following slaves: mulatto female age 24 black female age 21 black male age 17 black male age 16 black female age 3 black female age 1 black male age 3 black male age 4/12 Sarah is buried in the Anderson family cemetery in Calahaln [see Davie Dossier, newsletter of Davie Co. Historical & Genealogical Society, July 1998]. This list says no birthdate given, aged "29 years 20 months, 4 days". Is 20 months a typo? Dates indicate she's 40, not 30, in any case. Another Sarah A. Anderson "She died the 12th year of her age" is also listed, with the same death date. Coincidence? or error in transcription? Richard and Sarah's daughter Sarah Ann was still alive at the 1850 census, age 17, and apparently when her father wrote his will in 1857, so this is probably not her. Her maiden name from Davie County Heritage, article 488 by Z. Neil Anderson III. This article is mostly about their son Albert Alexander Anderson. Another article, #501 by Patricia Anderson Spainhour, says that she died in 1844 at the age of 39. This article says that her family came from Richmond VA to the Calahaln area about 1800.
