Charles Spotswood Anderson, husband of Nancy Penry, was born 5 Mar 1826 and was the only son of Spotswood and Patience (Pierce) Anderson [Davie County Heritage, article 491, by Grady R. Anderson]. Charles S. and Nancy appear in the 1850 census with Sarah and Eli. Five more children were born after 1850. 1850 Davie County census household 593 Charles S. Anderson 24 Nancy 25 Sarah 4 Eli 2 Charity Hudson 14 Charles S. or F. appears in two 24 Mar 1847 transactions with James Penry Sr. and G. Anderson. Charles S. Anderson is also named in the division of the estate of Daniel Ratledge decd on 17 Nov 1847 (Davie Co. book 3:3), along with a long list of other people. Are these simply creditors, or the commissioners dividing the estate, or are they relatives? The Davie County Heritage article details his military service record.
