NC -------------------------------------------------- Notes: This family is listed in the 1850 census as Aandleton, and in 1860 as Anderton. Joseph's marriage bond is also as Anderton, leading me to change the entry in the database. 1850 Davie County census household 917 William Aandleton 55 Elizabeth 50 Joseph 21 William 18 Mary 11 Susan 8 all were born in Virginia In 1860 and 1870 Elizabeth is head of household 1860 Davie County census, transcript page 58, household 464; Chinquepin district E. Anderton 60, female, seamstress Wm. 28 Mary J. 20 Sousan A. 17 I don't see Mary after the 1860 census, and don't see a marriage bond for her as Anderton. There are several marraiges listed for women named Mary Anderson, however, and it's possible she is hiding as one of these. 1870 household 76 in Calahaln district E. Anderton 70, mid wifery, b. VA Susan A. 28 seamstress, b. NC Elizabeth C. Anderton 3, b. NC [appears to be Susan's child; see below] 1880 household 101 in Calahaln district William D. Tutterow 32 Susan A. Tutterow 34 Bettie Anderton 13 step-daughter Susan married William Tutterow 22 Oct 1874. He is listed as 28, she as 29 [as Susanah Anderson]. There are a couple of William Tutterows of about the same age in earlier census records, and I am not sure which is her husband. Joseph is probably the J. Anderton age 33 in 1860, living a few houses away from his mother: 1860 Davie County census, transcript page 59, household 469; Chinquepin district J. Anderton 33 Nancy C. 21 Mary V. 3 Charles M. 1 C. Moore 20 (female) Nancy remarried in 1865, so presumably he was deceased by then. He does not appear in the list of Civil War casulaties in the Davie County Heritage book. Davie County Heritage article 1041 says Nancy Stonestreet married 1) Joseph Anderson [sic] and 2) George W. Booe. However, the marriage record for the latter is for George W. Booe and Nancy C. Graves, not Anderson or Anderton. It appears therefore that she actually married three times, first to Joseph Anderton in 1856, then to J.H. Graves in 1865, and finally to George W. Booe in 1868. She appears in the 1870 census with George W. Booe [as Boe], age 31; he is 29. With them are Nancy Andelton age 12 and Benjamin More 16, farm laborer. Note however that her children in 1860 were Mary V. 3 and Charles M. 1. Last Modified: 20 Jan 2001
