Message Rules Explained

 

Mail

1.  Select the Conditions for your rule:

Where the From line contains people
Where the Subject line contains specific words
Where the message body contains specific words
Where the To line contains people
Where the CC line contains people
Where the message is marked as priority   (high or low)
Where the message is from the specified account (from one of your own accounts)
Where the message size is more than size    (size in kb)
Where the message has an attachment
Where message is secure      (signed or encrypted)
For all messages

2. Select the Actions for your rule:

Move it to the specified folder      (mail folder in OE)
Copy it to the specified folder
Delete it
Forward it to people
Highlight it with color    (change the line to highlight it a specific color)
Flag it
Mark it as read
Mark the message as watched or ignored    (watched or ignored)
Reply with message             (.nws, .eml, .htm or .txt)
Stop processing more rules
Do not Download it from the server
Delete it from the server

 

News

1) Select the Conditions for your rule:

Where the message is on specified newsgroup  (select newsgroups from different news accounts)
Where the From line contains people
Where the Subject line contains specific words
Where the message is from the specified account  (from which news account)
Where the message was sent more than days ago     (x number of days)
Where the number of lines in the message is more than lines   (x number of lines)

2. Select the Actions for your rule:

Delete it
Highlight it with color
Flag it
Mark it as read
Mark the message as watched or ignored (watched or ignored)
Mark it for download
Stop processing more rules
