Latifah - fostered for Tree House Animal Foundation, 3/17/06 - 10/20/06 (I adopted her personally), - on 3.0 units PZI when fostering began, - transitioned to all grain-free canned (low-carbohydrate) diet, and immediately reduced insulin to 1 unit or less, - as of 5/11/06 on 0.2 units PZI and BG's regulated at under 200 mg/dL - as of 7/1/06 on "sliding scale" of insulin, generally getting less than 1 unit, and has gone up to 39 hours without any insulin needed. - Last insulin shot was August 27, 2006! Sadly, Latifah went back on insulin months later when other medical conditionsl (stomatitis, chronic pancreatitis and IBD, possibly triaditis) presented. Latifah passed away February 16, 2008 from something neurological most likely secondary to pancreatitis, liver disease, or cancer. |

- fostered for PACT, 10/20/06 - 3/24/07, 5/20/07 - 5/28/07, 7/2/08 - 7/26/08 - IBD treated with diet and nutritional supplements - Buster MUST be fed a grain-free, vegetable-free, fruit-free raw diet of poultry or rabbit. Homemade food, per the recipes at catinfo.org or catnutrition.org works well, as does Feline's Pride or ground meat/bone product supplemented with Platinum Performance. Any deviation from his special diet results in vomiting, diarrhea, and severe abdominal pain. - Buster's litter box report is here - Recommendations for Buster's care are here - Buster was adopted into a family's loving home in June 2007. They promised to continue his raw diet. - Buster was abandoned in June of 2008. He returned to me for foster care, 7/2/08. - Buster has a forever home as of September of 2008! |
