Scott Bakula Unfounded, & Unverified Rumors Page

A dumping ground for all the rumors of the past

Record Album Rumor

I received a fax this afternoon [7/28/98] from the VP of Varese Sarabande, who is also in charge of the Spotlight Series.
In it he states:

There are no plans at this time for Scott Bakula to record anything with Varese Sarabande, although we are all big fans of his and would welcome the opportunity should it arise.
Hope this clears things up.
Sincerely
Bruce Kimmel
Vice President/Producer

Some of you may remember that something about Scott singing a song on a new album from Varese Sarabande was posted a while ago. Jay says he doesn't know anything about this.

The original post, from which I got my (inaccurate) information is below.
I apologize for the misinformation.

From Taylor as posted on a.t.s-b newsgroup, 7/5
To those of you who appreciate Scott's vocalizing, it came to my attention this morning that he will soon (within the next 6 months) be involved in a project with Varese Sarabande. [Varese Sarabande is the name of a recording label] Release date to be sometime within the next 10 months or so. The project has not been finalized as of yet, but he will be one of many theatre artists performing on a compilation of "lost" songs from the theatre (no, it's not in the Lost in Boston series). This project has not yet been publicly announced but when it is it's safe to say that it will be seen in InTheatre magazine.

Diary of an American Family

from Margaret Colchin
I have been asked several times about Dairy of an American Family, which is listed in Scott's credits on the Internet Movie Database. The info on the IMDB is added by fans (see site at www.imdb.com) and, at times, may not be totally accurate. Many thanks to Margaret Colchin of the Quantum Lea pfan club PQL for tracking down this information.

Margaret posted this on the BSFF boards on AOL in response to the queries about the film:

This is a movie project that was mentioned in Daily Variety way back in early March 1997. The article said it was a movie that was planned to begin shooting in Sept., and among others, Scott Bakula was "attached". "Attached" is a kind of vague term to mean anything in Hollywood from "he's on our wish list" to "we're talking to him" to "we're in negotiations" It does *not* mean "he's signed and committed". I checked further into the story, found it was being produced by Moll/Bealor Productions, which was based at Universal at that time, and co-produced by Lesley Ann Warren - also "attached". I checked with Jay and was told that nothing could be confirmed, and in keeping with PQL's policy of not reporting anything that isn't set in concrete, I didn't mention it.
As we all know, Scott became involved with an entirely different project that was shooting in September. The listing of the DOAF project at this time could mean a lot of things - it's a left-over from last year, it's been pushed back to accommodate Scott's schedule, or lots of other things. If for some reason Promises Kept doesn't work out for spring 1998, it could mean an alternate movie for Scott. It could mean none of those things. This is a *very* small independent movie project without a domestic distributor, although there is a company which was interested in foreign sales. I'll check with Jay when I send my usual end-of-the-month fax and let you know, and in the meantime, maybe some more info will surface.

P.S. to the previous message - I checked the Production Charts, and it isn't listed at this time.
