opinion which is-- After years of begging from the fans of Quantum Leap, which was met with complete
indifference by the holders of the rights to Quantum Leap (Universal), suddenly Scott has a hit
series and now they are trying to cash in on his name (and then start a new
series on their own, not using the original stars of the series, at least one of
whom is now in a far more stable job situation than he could be in any series produced by
SciFi). If there is any sign that Scott will be involved, I will be sure to

The first issue of Essentially Enterprise, the newsletter that Diane and
I have started to replace the now defunct Quantum Quest, will be
available within the next couple of weeks. Our premiere issue features an
exclusive interview with Scott (which took place in March '02 - the same day
as the Communicator interview, actually) and two wonderful Hamilton Benefit
reports from Anita and Debbie.

from CNet news,
about a coming bill regarding copyright law:
Under current copyright
law, Americans who record a TV program or radio segment generally may
"sell or otherwise dispose of" that analog recording or digital file
as they wish.
The proposed bill would end that exemption, handing copyright owners substantial
new control over the distribution of their works by curtailing copying rights
granted to consumers under a doctrine known as "fair use."
"If you were to take today's episode of 'E.R.' and tape it and give it to
your mother, it would be copyright infringement under this bill," said Jessica
Litman, a professor at Wayne State University who specializes in copyright
law.

story featuring Scott and his thoughts on the first season. To subscribe, check

with Scott in it now, I wouldn't have a place left to sleep! Then again, that's
actually good news, isn't it? :-) )

from StarTrek.com -- 7/25
"Shockwave, Part II" and "Carbon Creek," the first two
episodes of season 2,
have completed photography and are now in post-production.
The first episode set to air this fall was the second to go into production.
..."Shockwave"
part 2 saw the full
cast reunite after hiatus. .."Carbon Creek" was scheduled first
because that episode involves only three principal cast members, Scott,
Connor and Jolene.
..It began production on July 26, on location near San Bernardino, California,
for two days. Blalock and the guest cast returned to the Paramount lot that
Friday ... Bakula and Trinneer reported to work on Monday, July 8, to
shoot ..on the standing Enterprise sets
On Wednesday, July 10, everyone was back... Fortunately... new air conditioning
systems were installed in the soundstages during hiatus. That episode wrapped
last Thursday. (July 18)
On Friday, the 19th, the crew did some exterior pickup shots for
"Creek" on Paramount's backlot, and began production on the third
episode, "Minefield," which is currently in production.

Scott's
monthly schedule was updated yesterday at TV Now.
A lot of Scott's movies are re-airing this month, so check it out. If you are
looking for just one (or a couple) of Scott's movies, try MovieMinder.com.
They will send you an email when it's airing
Please note that I don't usually list the reruns on this page (my page, the one
you are on now, not TV Now's page, which is theirs--for those of you who were
not confused before but probably are now) unless they are something special. I
generally just post talk shows and other things that we didn't know about in
advance ("unscheduled stops", they called them on Quantum Leap)
You can also check out TV Guide's search results for Scott for the
next two weeks. If you have not set up TVGuide.com to know your local viewing
area, cable company, etc, you may need to set that up. If you are getting an
error message, or listings for the TampaBay area rather than your own, please let
me know.
Great news, you can now preorder
Papa's Angels on VHS -- it will be out on October 15 -- from amazon.com.
Less great news -- it's only VHS, no DVD news at this time. (See? I'm spoiled
already)

From the latest issue of Dreamwatch
"I wish ENTERPRISE really well," he states. "They're a terrific
cast. Scott Bakula is a wonderful actor and has proved to be a good colleague,
because they were filming at Paramount all the time we were doing NEMESIS."
"No one else may know this, but my chair was stolen from the bridge. It was
a $20,000 chair. Scott had a replacement made for me which was a kind of rickety
old wooden chair on wheels."
thanks to Gail and TrekWeb
Enterprise failed to receive any nominations outside the technical
categories, where the show received a total of 5 nominations
The Creative Arts awards, encompassing all the categories for which Enterprise
was nominated (and in which Scott was a presenter last year), will be handed out
during a special banquet on the 14th of September.

Last week someone somewhere made a valiant effort... If you drop through again,
whoever you are, what you were looking for was Luminarias.
It's out on DVD now... (as well as some of the extremely premuium cable stations
that no one really has)
can be found at Wire Image.
You will have to do a search for Bakula

The Television Critics association is on their Summer (?) Press Tour and
have chatted with some of UPN "talent." So who knows what coverage
that will get. So far, all I have learned on that front is that Enterprise will
premiere (season 2) on September 18th (but then, we already knew that)
No guarantees here -- the theory is that if enough people pre-order (or is
that pre pre-order?), amazon.com will tell Paramount how much demand there is,
and possibly consider putting the series on DVD (in the US) sometime in this
decade (gee, did that sound cynical?) In any case, it can't hurt, since they
will contact you before charging you anything (if it ever does become
available). So I'm off to give them my vote :-)
Here's the text from their site:
"Enterprise (2001)

I'm not really clear on this so don't quote me, but Enterprise is being listed
for the following dates in Radio Time website TV listings
Wednesday 17 July
6:00pm
Channel 4
Thursday 18 July
6:00pm
Channel 4
Also you can keep your eyes out on Channel 4 for adverts (did I get the word
right?)
or so it looks..
the following are quotes from the St
Louis Post-Dispatch article on it's new UPN affiliate
On April 1, WHSL (Channel 46), currently an affiliate of
the Home Shopping Network, becomes UPN46, St. Louis' first, full-time UPN
station.
KPLR (Channel 11), a full-time WB affiliate, currently airs "Buffy"
and "Enterprise" but won't pick them up for fall. General manager Bill
Lanesey isn't confirming, but sources at UPN say the deal is definitely kaput.
"UPN is shopping the shows around to other stations, hoping to find someone
to pick them up," says Gregg Filandrinos, WHSL's general manager. At this
point, however, most stations' fall schedules are filled....
Filandrinos has approached HSN about pre-empting two hours of its programming a
week so that "Buffy" and "Enterprise" could air on their
future home station. But HSN, which makes money every hour it's on the air, has
no incentive to allow the pre-emptions, Filandrinos acknowledges. "And I
have a contract," he says. "I can't just pre-empt Home Shopping
without an OK."
If no station agrees to run "Buffy" and "Enterprise," fans
have few options other than having out-of-town friends tape the shows for
them...
If anything changes, I'll let you know

The movie previously known as Ghost
of a Chance, appears to be on sale at Jaguar
Mobile Service. (scroll down or do a "find") By the way, that's in
Australia and it's $98 AUS. For those of you not knowledgeable about video
formats, who live in the US, it probably will not play on your VCR unless your VCR plays PAL format.
According to Frankie, who called the store (from Canada--we are so
motivated!) they will not ship outside Australia, "due to copyright
laws" and it's only VHS, no DVD.

First off, in case I didn't make this clear last time, in the event of a movie,
there is no guarantee Scott would be in it. (You might have noticed he's
kind of busy at the moment, and SciFi seems to want to springboard a new series
from the movie.) The best we are hearing is "Cameo." (okay that was a
question from a reporter. Bonnie Hammer just says "You Never Know"
Considering that, here are some links to news articles and the address of the

Breaking News: Bakula may appear in QUANTUM LEAP movie
“We’ll see,” says Sci-Fi president
Dateline: Wednesday, July 10, 2002
By: CHRISTOPHER ALLAN SMITH AND ERIC MORO
While talking up the recently announced QUANTUM LEAP TV movie set to air on the
Sci-Fi Channel next year, channel President Bonnie Hammer told our own
Eric Moro onetime series star Scott Bakula may be making a cameo. [okay,
"cameo" was Eric's word]
....When asked if Bakula would return, she said with a smile, “You never know.
You never know.”

But I'm not in the business... and I've love to see a movie, IF Scott
would be in it.

Fans have agreed that we should let the Powers that Be know how we feel about
the prospect of a Quantum Leap movie, they just haven't yet agreed what would be
the best way to do this (some of us have serious reservations about a few
aspects of a possible new series)
Someone somewhere (please let me know who you are, I didn't get a source)
suggested writing to Don Bellisario. If you wish to do that, please note the

PQL adds:
IMHO, there's no harm in writing to Don - although they're still out on hiatus.
However, I doubt that he's the final arbiter on content. Remember that Universal
TV Group (which is now owned by the French firm whose name I can't remember)
owns Quantum, and if SciFi is considering a movie as a back-door pilot, they
might mandate the way they want the movie to go.
thanks to PQL
and I am quoting:
The SCI FI Channel,
which is now a part of Universal Television Group, is developing a number of
original series and films based on existing Universal titles, the network
announced. SCI FI will develop a two-hour movie based on the TV series Quantum
Leap, which will also serve as a back-door pilot for a possible series.
Series creator Don P. Bellisario will executive produce.

Apparently Shockwave part 2 is being shot second. Vaughn Armstrong may not have
to report to work till next week but, according to StarTrek.com,
"The cast and crew reunited last Wednesday and kicked off the fall
production slate with two days of location shooting on "Creek." They
returned to the Paramount lot Friday to resume work on the standing ship sets.
New "swing" sets are being prepared now for "Shockwave, Part
II," which will begin production shortly." [This info was actually...

From the organizers -- just a reminder to let you all know that plans are
rolling along for the convention - well, except for the small fact that the
amount of attendees registered has yet to reach double figures!
So they are requesting that if you are thinking of going, you might want to get

Scott was on the Jack Carney radio talk show on KMOX St Louis Monday
night.
He called in, they are rehearsing in LA. The Monday show is sold out, but not Sunday. If Sunday sells out they might consider opening the dress rehearsal for tickets

And yes, they got it on

thanks to Amy and Sally and Janice in St L. also to Janey for dubbing.
More details from Helene re: the
Hamilton Video on just what is a SASE and the increase in US postage rates,
and other issues related to getting a copy of the video, can be found here.
(If you haven't read the post from yesterday, do scroll
up...)
thanks (again) to Helene for the clarification
Enterprise.PsiPhi.org appears to have airing

Helene has completed her compilation and editing of the four different video
tapes from the reception with Scott and Jay after the Hamilton Benefit in April
(this year)
For those of you who were not there, Scott spent almost two hours in the
classroom with us, answering questions while we were sitting at "our"
desks, and then doing autographs and pictures. You should also be able to see
(hopefully) his reaction to Debbie from NV's gift of a bottle of Canada Dry (and
his story of the cast's April Fools trick on him)
Since no one wanted any of Scott cut (even tho there will be a lot of
repetition, we really don't care in the least) it will be a 2 tape set. $10 plus
an SASE (I'm guessing bubble pack envelopes, tho she has not said that
yet).
You can email her for her mailing address at hjkapl@aol.com.
If you are going to the event in St Louis,
she might be able to bring yours with her. Depends on how many she can carry. If
not, please note that she is going away for the weekend next weekend, so it will
take a bit of time to get everything dubbed and mailed to everyone.
I have posted a copy of Helene's
posting of details on the Hamilton page. Instructions are also included on how
to make a SASE (for you newbies)...
Special thanks to Helene for all the work completed and to come, and also to Ann,
Barbara, and Myrna, whose footage is included.
For those who, like me, have never seen the show, I found a website with the plot and midi files of some of the songs.
Barbara noted that there are 20 songs... whew!
For those interested in attending the Benefit
in St Louis, there is much chatter, with info, going on over at Trudy's
board--in several threads. Since, somewhat like lemmings, we all like to stay
together (tho none of us have dived off anything together yet ;-) ) most of the
gang is staying at the Red
Roof Inn in Florissant (which is somewhere near the college where the
performance will be. I figure with that many people--someone will know exactly
where it is and how far.) There are phone numbers on the website--toll free and
local.
For those of you "on the fence" I'd like to note that Scott has not
been in a show that was just two people since 1999, not in a musical since 1995
and in the musical he was in in '95, he only had 4 songs. This is a two person
show. Much singing.. and My Cup Runneth Over. <sigh>
Oh, and if you've never heard Scott play the saxophone... <g>
As far as we have been told (by Scott's publicist), there will be no
"meet and greet" receptions and it's a pretty good bet there will be
no video of the performance. [This has been upgraded to a definite
No, as of
Thursday]
It's quarter of 1. I'm going to bed... (apparently without thinking of uploading
the file)

The DVD release for CDD is Sept. 3 this year [I'm not sure if that is general,

word yet on what those will be exactly. It will be released in pan and scan
instead of a widescreen version. A capture
of the menu can be found on Trudy's board

Paramount has created a website for Emmy voters'
consideration. I haven't
visited yet, but from TrekToday's
coverage, it doesn't seem to be anything we haven't seen--just new
packaging. TT also notes that Trek usually gets passed by in the Emmy
nominations (aside from 2 for Leonard Nimoy and a couple for TNG's last
season--no wins). They also mention Scott's 4 Emmy nominations and his Golden
Globe win.
The magazine is out currently in the UK and the excepts (quotes) are at SciFi
