Penny's Place - Coca-Cola Collection and Collectibles

Tips for finding the value of a Coca-Cola collectible.

I receive e-mails almost daily from people trying to find the value of an item they have and want to sale. I know it is very difficult to find information and values on more modern collectibles and it can become a very frustrating ordeal. Here are a few tips to help get you started. Good Luck!

Please note: I am not an authority on values so please use the information below and do not e-mail me for the value of your items.

Method 1.

Searching at online Auctions:
Go to any online auction such as eBay and do a search for the item. Be sure to do a search on current auctions and an advanced search on completed past auctions. It may take several attempts using different keywords to locate an item like yours.

Keyword example:
Coke tray, Coca-Cola tray, Coca-Cola serving tray, Coke serving tray, Coca-Cola tip tray, Coke tip tray

If your piece has a date be sure to try it in the search as well:
1934 Coca-Coca tray

If you are successful in finding the piece, it will show you what the item actually sold for at auction. Not a full proof method for a value but it will at least give you some idea of what the item is selling for.

Method 2.

Online Pricing Guide:
Vist KovelKovels offers a free online pricing guide that gives values on some Coca-Cola items. It doesn't offer images of the items but are set up in categories such as trays, calendars, blotters, etc. You wil need to sign up for a free account to use the guide. To get you started, here is the link to the Kovels Coke listings.

Method 3.

Pricing Guides:
Pricing guide for Pre 1970's collectibls and vintage memorabilia. I would recommend pricing guides mostly for someone interested in starting a Coca-Cola collection, especially if you are planning on purchasing some higher priced items. The pricing guides are a good reference for what memorabilia and collectibles are out there. But be forewarned that no guide has all the items produced by Coke through the years. The Coca-Cola Company doesn't even know them all.

There are 2 types of pricing guides:

1.) Those that feature a variety of items all in the same book. They usually include items such trays, calendars, vending machines, and advertising pieces such as blotters, coupons, bottles, magazine ads, etc. The one shown above is one of my favorites for Pre 1970's collectibles and vintage memorabilia.

2.) Some guides target just a particular item or theme. For example the entire guide may have only bottle value in it. Other guides may offer only those items that feature Polar Bear related pieces.

I suggest visiting my Product locator page to get started, or vist either the Barnes & Noble website or the Amazon.com website and doing a search for Coca-Cola guides. Be sure to read the reviews from people who have already purchased the guide. Many times they wil let you know how good the book is or what the guide might be missing.
