Popular tied for an award
a SHINE Award, to be exact for consistently exploring and promoting sexual health issues on TV. The comedy category saw a tie between "Moesha" ("Let's Talk About Sex") and "Popular" ("Booty Camp"), The recognition came from the Media Project, a partnership between the nonprofit org Advocates for Youth and the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The WB has played a little hocus-pocus with its schedule, adding a second run of "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" to Friday nights and moving frosh comedy "Grosse Pointe" to Sundays. The weblet's changes go into effect on Nov. 3, in time for November sweeps. The Friday night shuffle comes following disappointing results for "Grosse Pointe" and soph drama "Popular." Replacing "Grosse Pointe" in the post- "Sabrina" slot will be four repeat episodes of the teen witch laffer that previously aired on ABC. The WB had quietly acquired the "Sabrina" reruns while negotiating for the show with Viacom Prods. The Frog hopes the segs, which feature guest stars such as Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and Kenan & Kel, will give "Popular" a stronger lead-in. The network also announced that the reality skein "Popstars" will take over the post- "Sabrina" slot in January.

Carly's Up for a Movie Role:
Carly is negotiating for a role in a psychological thriller called Through the Skin slated for a March start in Toronto. Brad Renfro (Apt Pupil) and Lesley Ann Warren are also in talks to star in the movie, which is based on a real-life murder involving three teenagers with a taste for dangerous mind games. Although the film Trapped in a Purple Haze didn't exactly earn rave reviews, Carly did garner good notices for her role as a heroin addict Aaron Shuster will direct the indie project from his own script. Three DJs take breast cancer battle to young
Phil Kloer - Staff Tuesday, October 17, 2000

Six years ago, Star 94 morning DJ Vikki Locke found a lump in her breast. It turned out to be benign, but, she says, "I know what that fear is." Tonight, Locke joins with two other radio hosts who are normally her competition --- Leslie Fram of 99X and Porsche Foxx of V-103 --- to educate young women about breast cancer. And they'll be on the right platform to reach their young audience --- Channel 36, Atlanta's WB affiliate, which is donating all its local ad time from 8 to 11 tonight during "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel" and reruns of "Seinfeld" and "Friends." They'll talk among themselves and introduce taped vignettes with WB stars, including Alyson Hannigan ("Buffy"), Katherine Heigl and Jason Behr ("Roswell"), Nikki Cox ("Nikki"), Leslie Bibb, Ron Lester and Carly Pope of "Popular" and Irene Molloy, Lindsay Sloane and Bonnie Somerville of "Grosse Pointe." "I don't believe the message is out there to young women that self-breast examination is vital," says Fram of 99X's "Morning X." "We've all been told that when you get to be 40, that's when you start having your mammograms," Fram says. "But no one ever speaks to women in their 20s and 30s. I was unaware that there are a lot of women in their 20s who have had breast cancer. And doctors are not proactive in telling women to do self-exams." According to the American Cancer Society, a woman's risk of breast cancer at age 20 is one in 19,608. At age 30, it increases to one in 2,535 and at age 40 to one in 217. The five-year survival rate when breast cancer is caught in its earliest stages is 97 percent. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Foxx and the other radio hosts also will interview young breast cancer survivors on their own shows today to emphasize the message of regular self-exams. "It's really something when you hear a young woman say, 'I'm a breast cancer survivor,' " says Foxx, who will interview 27-year-old Julia Chriss. "It's great to hear her say, 'I'm alive today 'cause I caught it early and did something.' " for more info visit: The Young Survival Coalition

A tiny article about "The Glass House" is in the November issue of Teen People. The image is on this site under magazines. It States:

"Life on location takes more than talent -- sometimes it calls for endurance as well. Co-star Carly Pope has her own tactic for getting though those sometimes grueling 16 hour workdays: She takes catnaps. "I definitely need sleepy time for at least an hour a day" she says. Helping to keep the actress awake is a chilling story line: After the parents of a teenage girl (Leelee Sobieski) die under suspicious circumstances, she moves into the seemigly perfect Malibu mansion of thier bestfriends, only to discover that her new guardians are hardly angels - in fact, they just might be murderers. "My character is in every single scene, so theres alot of pressure" Leelee says. Carly, on the other hand, is relaxed, and shes relishing the chance to branch out from her small screen role. "I have a very short attention span" says the 20 year old. "So its nice to switch things up"

I can only speak for myself but I think we're all ready to see Carly on the big screen!
