The Hospital

The hospital was designed by Dr. Holt-Dunn's architect husband James Aldeon Dunn. A sister, Jennifer Holt-Tucker, an interior architect based in Chicago, IL, provided consultation on the interior color scheme and materials. It has separate entrance and exit doors, 2 exam rooms (one with a lift-exam table, and one doubles as surgery), retail area, walk-on scale, in-house laboratory for blood tests, x-ray, surgery, pharmacy, treatment area, and separate dog and cat wards. Patient files and hospital records are computerized and a security system is installed on the building. The wards and treatment areas are supplied by a separate heating and cooling unit to ensure patient comfort after hours, while the other area's heating and cooling unit is off. Although the hospital is not large, the high ceilings, windows, pastel colors, and open areas give it a much larger feel. There are plans to expand the 1800 square-foot facility in the future to include indoor and outdoor dog runs, additional office space, grooming room, a separate surgery suite, and an isolation ward.
