He was taken to the hospital for an operation by upon arrival there it was found that it was too late, his case being cancer of the stomach. His condition grew worse each day nad he gradually became weaker until the end.

Mr. Bashline was the son of Joseph and Sarah (Kuhns) Bashline and was born in Monroe township Nov. 6, 1866, so was in his sixtieth year. He grew to manhood and was united in marriage to Dillie Fox. Entering into the affairs of life with manly courage he became one of the most highly respected citizens of Monroe township. To their union were born seven children, namely Mrs. Howard Lewis and Mrs. R. A. Hale of near Knox; Leslie of Monroe township; Bernadine, Marie and Ralph all at home, and one daughter who preceded him in death. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Edward and Charley, Monroe Twp.; Frank of Porter Twp.; Hunter of Sligo; Mrs. Sarah Smith, New Bethlehem, and Mrs. Ad.
