Michael K. Flick

The remains of one of our noble war heroes, Private Michael K. Flick, arrived at Hoboken, N. J., August 25, 1921, and was sent to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Flick at Scotch Hill, September 14, 1921.

Michael K. Flick, son of Edward E. and Maggie K. Flick, was born at Gravel Lick, March 17, 1893, and spent his life in the vicinity of Scotch Hill. He was called into the service and sent to Camp Lee, Petersburg, Va., September 19, 1893, afterwards transferred to Camp Grodon, Atlanta, Ga., and sent over seas May 1, 1918. He was in the battles of Mihiel and Mibash Sectory and was killed in action in the Argonne Forest, October 9, 1918. He was a private in Company A 328 Infantry, 82nd Division. During his service he was a fine soldier, noted for his daring and bravery. He met his end bravely and died with his face to the foe, whom he helped to overcome.

Funeral services were held at his home on last Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Nahlor, of Tylersburg, where a large concourse of relatives and friends gathered to pay a last tribute to his memory.

After the services the procession formed and headed by the Craig E. Fleming American Legion Post marched to the cemetery where the body was committed to its last resting place there to await the Ressurection Day. The firing squad fired a salute and "Taps" were sounded in solemn farewell.

As man may, he fought his fight, Proved his truth by his endeavor; Let him sleep in the solemn night, Sleep forever and forever. Private Flick is survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Clyde Lewis of Duke Center, Genevieve of Warren, Pa., Mrs. Frank Cook of Parker, Helen, Marguirete, Edward, Jr., and Dorothy, all at home.
