Sgt. Charles W. Henry is now somewhere on the battlefields of France. He is the son of a former Crates family, Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Henry, now of North Pine Grove. Sgt. Henry went overseas about the first of April, and will have two years of service by October. A Clarion-Limestone graduate, he was employed at Owens-Illinois prior to his induction.

Sgt. Henry writes home that he wouldn’t know how to eat from a plate, now, and that he has lived on dehydrated food so long that a piece of white bread is something he can barely remember. He wrote from his dugout, and said there was nothing but rumble and black-out all around him.

Editor’s note: I believe that the last sentence should read "…there was nothing but rubble and black-out all around him."
