Parker L. Henry

Parker L. Henry, aged 29 years, 8 months and 15 days, died September 18, 1925 at his home in Porter township, after having suffered with a broken back for a period of nineteen months.

Deceased was a son of H. F. and Mary (White) Henry and was born January 3, 1895. He married Miss Hazel Bargerstock, who with their three children, survives, namely: Clyde, Delbert and Lee. Deceased also leaves father, mother and the following brothers and sisters, namely: Lloyd, of New Kensington; Roy, of Canton, Ohio; Mrs. Vernie Moore and Mrs. Ida Sigworth, of Vandergrift; Mrs. Dorothy Shanafelt, of Brinkerton.

On February 13, 1924, while working in the Orchard mine at Reidsburg, Parker Henry met with an accident which resulted in his broken back. He was removed to Brookville Hospital for a month after which he was brot to his home where he had lain a helpless, hopeless cripple until death relieved his suffering. During all the long months he was bedfast, except for an occasional hour in an easy chair. To obtain these short respites from bed the sufferer was able, by means of a pulley and rope, to assist the family in shifting his position.

The funeral, which was held Sunday afternoon from Leatherwood Baptist Church, was one of the most largely attended funerals ever held in Clarion County. When Rev. H. W. Jones began preaching, every available foot of space in the church was occupied and it is said that not more that one-fourth of those present were able to obtain admission to the church.

Interment, directed by Charles White, was in the Baptist churchyard.
