The Mystic Gryphon

Being a non-mainstream store, we are frequently asked similar questions by many patrons. Below is a list of some of the most commonly asked ones. If you have a question which we have not covered or would like more information about a particular question(s) please write us.

(1) What is The Mystic Gryphon?

The Mystic Gryphon is a metaphysical supply store specializing in herbs, oils, incense, crystals, candles, jewlery, and more.

(2) Is The Mystic Gryphon a "Witches" shop?

Yes. The Mystic Gryphon is owned and operated by a witch. A witch is a term used to refer to someone schooled in the old ways or knowledge.

(3) Aren't witches satanists and therefore this is a satanic shop?

No! A witch is one trained in the old ways. Witches do not believe in or worship the entity known as satan. We recognize the such an entity exists due to the fact that so many people lend the concept energy. Witches do not practice strange unmentionable rites and do horrible things to little children as some Hollywood producers and fiction writers would have the general public believe. We follow three basic guidelines:
A witch believes in the power of Nature, reveres Mother Earth, respects all life and the free will of others.

(4) Can any of the items in The Mystic Gryphon be used for evil?

All items sold at The Mystic Gryphon have been conditioned (charged) in such a fashion that if an attempt to use the item for an evil purpose occurs the item will decharge and become and ordinary object. The item will still retain one last commmand, resist being reconstucted and used for evil intent. The items in The Mystic Gryphon are tools, instruments used to raise power. As with any tool, you can use it for good or ill. For example, an axe can be used to chop up a dead tree for firewood to heat your house or it can be used to kill someone. The tool itself is neither good nor bad - only the actions performed with the tool are good or bad.

(5) The Mystic Gryphon carries pentagrams, are these not evil symbols?

The pentagram is a five pointed start with its point facing upwards. Each point represents a different aspect of being or element. For a witch, the top most point represents the highest form we can attain, spirit. The other points represent the elements from which we are formed. The lower points show the rise through the elements to achieve pure spirit. If the pentagram is inverted, the top point facing down, it becomes a sybol representing the subversion of the spirit by earthly things. If you take a close look, all of the pentagrams carried by The Mystic Gryphon point upwards.

(6) What is the relationship between The Mystic Gryphone and The Temple of Divine Mysteries?

The Temple of Divine Mysteries is housed in and sponsored by The Mystic Gryphon as place where like minded people can gather and worship the Goddess and God, exchange ideas, learn and practice magick. The Temple of Divine Mysteries has two different sections, the New Moon Study Group and The Full Moon group. The New Moon Study Group is open to all people and is intended as a way to reach others, allow people to experience a group coven and as a way for others to communicate. The Full Moon group is comprised of graduates from The Mystic Gryphon School of Witchcraft.

(7) Can anyone come to the New Moon groups?

Pretty much yes. The only thing that we ask is that you be respectful of the beliefs of others. If you are not you will be escorted out of the door. The is not a religious debating session nor is it a public forum for spreading the word. The New Moon group is a pagan gathering and also heavily influenced by Wicca. If you truly wish to learn more about paganism & Wicca, meet other pagans and Wiccans, please feel free to come down. If you only wish to disrupt the gathering then please do not waste our time or yours for it will not be allowed.
