Religion and Beliefs
Witchcraft is more than casting spells, performing magick, making potions and stirring cauldrons. Witchcraft is a way of life. For many, Wichcraft is the living of the Wiccan style of life. Wicca is a religion which acknowleges magick, accepts what most other religions ignore - magick is simply the direction of energy to a desired goal. Magick is a tool which we can use to improve our lives, the lives of those around us (with permission of course), the lives of everyone on the Earth (who are willing).
This lesson discusses the religion of Witchcraft, it discusses Wicca, it discusses the belief system associated with magick. In addition to general beliefs, archetypal forms are exlpored, icons scrutinized and ways of thought examined. Religion is discussed in its various forms through history and different cultures.
During this class, a basic set of beliefs is set forth which establishes an ethical guideline for the use of magick and witchcraft. These basic beliefs are few but far reaching:
An it harm none, do as your true will indicates
Do nothing to interfere with the free will of another
Whatever you do will return threefold
The limits of this system are discussed, the ethics of different actions are explored. As you can well imagine, these ideas can be very constricting.
The concept of Deity, mythology, Hermetic philosophy, archetypes, separation of deity, the Goddess, the God, the aspects of deity, ethics and karma - these are but a few of the topics covered in this class. In addition, the study of the major arcana of the tarot begins in this lesson. This class is packed full of information and may change your view on many things.
Be ready to examine your beliefs and ideas, come to class with an open mind. This is one of most interesting (non-magick specific) lessons of the course. It is after this lesson that the size of the class may change. The concepts presented in this class are a bit difficult for "those who are not ready" to handle. In time, "those who are not ready" will seek spiritual enlignment and find it in the form which they most need whether it be Wicca, Magick, Witchcraft, Buddism, Christianity, etc.
