Symbology
A symbol is an image which a group of people have agreed to associate a particular meaning. Symbols are a very powerful and important part of magick. As people study, use and believe in symbols, the power behind the symbol grows. As witches, we can tap into the energy and use it for our workings.
In addition to being just a storehouse of energy, symbols are a storehouse of information; they provide a link to the past. The mind stores experiences in image form and as such, images are very strong since thought is simply energy.
The symbols which are common to witchcraft and magick are covered. The meanings behind various symbols are learned. The creation of your own symbols is covered. Whether you want to know the difference between a true pentagram and an inverted pentagam, the history of the cross, the association of colors with events, various signs and symbols for good luck or warding off the evil eyes, this lesson covers it.
As you can see, there is a lot of information covered in this lesson. This is the first of the multi-part lessons. Lessons eight and nine both deal with symbology. After these two classes you will have a firm understanding of symbols, their origins and use.
