Fairmont Ridge has special soils that provide habitat for some very unusual plants. Click below to learn more about the rare plants of Fairmont Ridge. big-scale balsamroot (Balsamorhiza macrolepis var. macrolepis) fragrant fritillary (Fritillaria liliacea) These plants are listed as "rare, threatened or endangered in California and elsewhere" by the California Native Plant Society (List 1B). All plants on List 1B meet the definitions of Section 1901, Chapter 10 (NPPA) or Sections 2062 and 2067 (CESA) of the California Department of Fish and Game Code. These plants are eligible for state listing.
