FROM THE PASTOR
". . . God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
I don't have to tell you this, you already know it is easy to love someone who loves you back. But what about loving someone who turns on you, who openly defies your standards, slanders you, betrays your loyalty, takes advantage of your generosity, lies to you, steals the credit you deserve, even turns others against you? Could you love someone like that?
Would you even sacrifice your life for that person? The Son of God did on our behalf, loving us infinitely, willingly carried out a monumental plan to save us from our path of self-destruction. No one can force God to do anything God doesn't want to do. And we didn't/don't deserve this unconditional, sacrificial expression of love. Still, Jesus responded to our need, spread His innocent arms wide on a rugged cross, and embraced our punishment so we could enjoy everlasting forgiveness and unending joy as restored, redeemed citizens of His incredible Kingdom.
Who says fairy tales don't come true? They don't come any better than this, because this one is no tale; it's fact, grounded in history and confirmed in our hearts.
Don't wait a moment longer. Turn your eyes toward heaven; and in response to this great act of infinite Love, "rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ … by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (vv. 11, 5).
Your Pastor, Roy
