Homebrewing......Mead

and melomel, methyglyn, cyser, and horilka

HopsLine

Yes, I'm another one of of *those*, the homebrewers. Why, you ask? Because despite extensive searches, I've not been able to find many sources of mead, and by golly, I *like* the stuff! Besides, I live in a state (NC) with this interesting law: Thou shalt not ship wine into the state or the wine cops will come and haul you away! So, I either smuggle, or make my own. Its a lot cheaper to make my own............and much more fun (not to mention a great way to stay out of jail!)

So, in self defense, and because it's fun, I moseyed down to my local brew shop, American Brewmasters . There, I told my sad story to Mike, the proprietor, who cordially led me around the store and showed me what to buy.

Now, I've 6 batches finished (and mostly gone, thanks to the otters in AFR) 4 batches going, and more planned. I'll probably exhibit some if it, if I don't drink it all, or give it away at Faires and SCA events! Click here to see my recipes.

I also subscribe to the Mead Lovers' Digest, which you can subscribe to here: Use mead-request@talisman.com for [un]subscribe/admin requests.  When subscribing, please include name and email address in body of message. You can get digest archives and FAQ for anonymous ftp at ftp.stanford.edu in pub/clubs/homebrew/mead. One *very* useful piece of info I've gotten from there is the World Meadery List.
