Update and Peter Rabbit revisited
I've decided not to stress about the blog and to just post when I have time or something important to say. I've overscheduled for the Fall, but life is still going pretty well. KJ and I had our first tests this past week in Geography class so we've been busy studying.  KJ has also been sick for a couple of weeks now. I took him to the doctor the Wednesday before last and was told he had a viral upper respiratory infection, to give him lots of fluids, plenty of rest, and to call if he wasn't better by Monday. I called Monday and KJ was back at the doctor Tuesday where he had a terrible peak flow reading, a spiromentor test, and a chest x-ray. Diagnosis was that his asthma was kicking up due to the viral illness. Unbeknownst to me, KJ had taken it upon himself to discontinue his Advair, because he felt he no longer needed it. The doctor very firmly told KJ that he MUST take it EVERY day so KJ has restarted the medicine, but is still coughing lots. After fencing yesterday I discovered that if he exercises at all, he has one long coughing fit that lasts for hours despite breathing treatments. KJ insisted on going to co-op today, but I would not let him stay for P.E.

On a lighter note...
Some of you know that when KJ was younger, he had an imaginary friend, Peter Rabbit. As a toddler, KJ loved the Beatrix Potter stories, especially those about Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny. At KJ's insistance, his father and I read him the stories almost daily. Sometime around then, Peter came to live with us. I'm not positive how long Peter stayed, a couple of years I guess. When KJ was 4, he was Peter Rabbit for Halloween. KJ still has the complete collection of Beatrix Potter stories over at his dad's, but I don't know if he ever reads them anymore. Yesterday while KJ was at fencing, I browsed at Book-A-Million for a few things for KJ. While there, I saw a large Peter Rabbit lift-the-flap board book with "over 45 flaps." My 1 year old niece, Emily, LOVES lift-the-flap books and since it was only $3.97, I bought it for her.  On the drive home from fencing, I mentioned the book to KJ. He literally dove into the back floorboard to get the book out. When he saw it, he squealed, "Lucky," and then proceeded to read and lift every flap in the book. When he finished, I said, "I think Emily will like it." KJ replied,"I like it." Maybe I should buy him one too. ;-)

misc.
Well, we've got two weeks of school down. *phew* Sorry that I went MIA, but teaching KJ and taking the MCC class also has been kicking my rear. I think that we've got a routine down now, but co-op starts next Friday so we'll see.

Our air conditioner just died today and I'm waiting on a call from the landlord. He's a great guy, but I'm not sure how soon he can get someone out on the Friday before Labor Day weekend.

Yippee!!  FedEx just came with the Introductory Logic set. It would have been here last week, but someone at Canon Press typed the zip code wrong and it was delivered to Midland, TX.  Canon Press was wonderful about fixing the problem though.

KJ finally consented to a haircut today. (Thank you, Kevin, for threatening - it worked better than my pleading.) He told the stylist what he wanted while I sat at the front and waited. WOW! It looks completely different!
