I think we've figured out and are used to a routine now.  I actually popped out of bed this morning at 5:00am bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. :-)  Last week was an emotionally trying week for KJ.  I believe that most of his emotionalism is hormonal. He rarely cries, yet he was sobbing twice and teared up once...all in a span of 5 days.  I can't go into detail about some of it, because it involves a girl that KJ has a crush on.  The sobbing, however, was due to being nervous about his first major Math test.  KJ has had some...ummm...difficulty transitioning from taking your own sweet time on a test to a timed situation.  We have a quiz in prealgebra 1-2 times a week. You must copy the problems from the board and finish in 10 minutes.  KJ's first problem was miscopying the problems. After realizing that he also could not see the numbers on the clock in the library, I made him an eye appointment and moved us to the front row in class.  By that time, however, he had failed the first 2 quizzes and was panic-stricken over the test. His father and I both gave him pep talks, and he got a "B" on the test. (Thank goodness!)  The girl situation also more or less resolved on Friday evening, so KJ is back to his chipper self.

Critical Thinking is going okay. KJ's fine, but I'm having trouble thinking outside-the-box. *sigh*

David, KJ, and I went to see "The Cowboy Astronomer" at the planetarium on Saturday.  Once you get past the initial hokiness, it was really informative. I got the giggles, when the narrator started talking in this super southern twang, and I could NOT stop. I thought I was going to have to bite my tongue off to keep from getting hysterical. NOTE: I speak with a very southern, redneckish twang, but this was much worse.

I was actually in a pretty crappy mood on Sunday. I had made a list of 8 chores on Saturday, and told KJ to pick 3 and I would take the remaining 5.  Well.....I negelected to think that in addition to going to the planetarium which is an hour and fifteen minute drive each way, I would also be cooking and cleaning up 3 meals. I spent almost ALL the time I was home in the kitchen and did not get anything else done. This meant that I also spent all day Sunday doing housework.  I was pissy by that night. Before the schedule change, I managed to get most of the housework done during the week, and relax on the weekends. We also usually eat out a couple of meals on the weekend (less dishes for me to do), but were needing to save money this time.

On a happy note, we're setting aside some tax refund money so KJ can go to the SeaWorld Expedition Camp in San Antonio.  He is soooo excited!

I just need to get organized...a plan, that's what I need...a plan...somebody make me a plan, please!
Oh. My. God.  Last week was so l-o-n-g and t-i-r-i-n-g. *whine*  We may have bitten off more than we can chew. By we, I mean KJ and myself, not the royal we.

I don't think we have a "bad" schedule. It is just so different from we WERE doing that we need time to adjust.  Prealgebra is going fine. KJ actually enjoys it. *gasp*  The jury is still out on Critical Thinking though. KJ likes the textbook, but the class itself has been kind of ho-hum so far.

Ready, get set...GO!
Though KJ officially started back to school last Tuesday, we REALLY get busy starting this week. He did not have fencing last Monday or co-op last Friday, but now all activities are back to a regular schedule (plus ummm...we added a few.)

KJ will still have fencing on Mondays and Thursdays. We have two classes at MCC on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He still has co-op on Fridays. Starting the 18th, KJ will shadow at the zoo every other Wednesday morning for six sessions.  If he continues to get good reports, then he will continue working in some capacity. (yet to be determined by the zoo) The middle school social group meets every other Tuesday afternoon.  KJ is also joining The Stonhenj Players as a fighter and will have practices on Sunday afternoons.  Let's see....that leaves Monday morning and late afternoon, Tuesday evening, Wednesday all day except for when he is at the zoo, and Thursday evening to do the subjects we do at home. Luckily, Math and Logic will already be taken care of with MCC. We have an hour and a half between the classes so homework for them can be done then. KJ will still have whatever Writing homework he is given at co-op, History, Spanish, Latin, Literature, and Science to do at home. Drawing, P.E., Writing, and Shakespeare are at co-op. I guess the zoo work can go under Science, Stonhenj can be both drama and P.E., and fencing is obviously P.E.

Anyway, I'll let you know how it all works out.
