Time4Learning.com
Over the past month, I've had the opportunity to use and review a program at www.Time4Learning.com.   The program is available for Preschool through 8th grade.  KJ obviously only used the parts for the upper grades.  The parts of the curriculum that I used with KJ included several sections on American History, some of the Physical Science, and a little Math. I personally thought the material was presented in an interesting and orderly fashion.  KJ thought the graphics were a little cheesy, but he got used to them.  The Math area was very helpful to both of us. We had to miss a Prealgebra class the week after my surgery, but were able to review the material we missed using Time4Learning.  Speaking of my surgery, having educational activities that KJ could do alone while I recovered was very helpful.  KJ enjoyed the Science sections the most and will be continuing through those for sure.  I would have liked to explore the Language Arts curriculum, but just ran out of time. Unfortunately for us, this semester was already too busy for KJ to use the curriculum as much as I would like. I do plan, however, to sign up for the Summer. I am also going to use the curriculum in a different way then. Instead of me assigning KJ specific sections to do, I am going to have him spend 30 minutes a day doing something from the Upper Grades area. He can choose the sections and order as long as he spends 30 minutes a day. Time4Learning has a parent login where I can see what he has completed and how well he did on the quizzes so I can keep up with what he is doing.  Overall, I think Time4Learning is an excellent supplement to our homeschool curriculum.

Catch-up time
It's time to bring everyone up-to-date.  Since I last blogged...

*KJ's pseudodate went well.  He was so nervous and it was sooo cute.  I bought my ticket, he bought his and the girl's tickets, and the girl's mother paid for her own ticket. During this transaction, KJ was so nervous that he suddenly forgot how to count money, something he is VERY good at. :-)  We all trooped inside to the concession stand, where KJ asked the girl if she would like some popcorn and what she liked to drink. Once again, he made sure that he paid for himself and his date, leaving us poor old moms to fend for ourselves.  He held open the door to the theater for the three ladies, but then sprinted by me and the other mom to make sure he was right behind the girl so they could sit together. We all got settled into our seats, watched the previews, the movie begins and somehow KJ drops the entire HUGE bucket of popcorn. Before anybody had time to react, KJ leaped over me and the girl's mom and flew down the stairs. He returned just a few minutes later with a refill. After that, the girl held the bucket of popcorn. :-) All in all, it was fun and sweet.

*I survived my sinus and septum surgery. I don't want to gross anyone out or be a whiner, but the recovery was HORRIBLE! There was lots of vomit, pain, crying to David, blood, pain, crying to my mom, and did I mention PAIN?!  Enough said.  After a week, I was allowed to blow my nose, and you would not believe some of the stuff that has come out!

*KJ and I don't see much of David these days. :-(  He is super busy at work and working l-o-n-g days, 7 days a week.  Please keep him in your thoughts or prayers.

*KJ has had a drum set for years, but it has spent the last few over at his dad's house. Tonight, the drum set is moving over here. I did some mega-rearranging and what used to be my reading room is now the music room. I now have a reading corner in the living room or I can always read in bed. The front room, actually it is a curtained off area, holds the drum set, KJ's keyboard, and his electric guitar. Unfortunately, it also holds some storage tubs, the glider, and the litter box.
