I'm back.
The semester is over and I finally have time to blog again. So much has happened that I'm not sure where to begin. Let's see, I left off last time with KJ having migraines and a scheduled MRI. He's fine. I probably should have come back and said that sooner. *sorry* He has a "thickening of the tissue at the base of his occipital ridge." This tissue can be broken up by physical therapy and/or myofascial massage. We did some physical therapy and are now switching to massage.

We finished the MCC classes and K.J. survived the finals though he didn't think he would. He ended up with an 86 in Prealgebra. The Critical Thinking professor hasn't emailed me so I don't know about that one yet. K.J. did a good job on his "Thinking About My Thinking" paper though.

David returned from New York safe, but not sound. Poor guy ate some undercooked tuna there and was sick as a dog. Then he compressed a nerve in his arm and was in extreme pain for weeks. It took several doctor visits and one trip to the ER before we found out what was wrong. He is having some testing today to see how well the nerves in that arm are working. Things have slowed down a little for him at work, but he is still busy.

KJ is turning 13 in two weeks. My baby will be a teenager! *sniff*  He has been doing some yard work for an elderly couple at the end of our road and making his own money. Our neighbors next door heard that he was working and now he is doing some work for them also. Poor guy has been so sore and tired, but I told him hard work builds character. We started our Summer school schedule which is full, but more laid back than the Spring. KJ is also taking some swimming lessons from a buddy of his. His buddy has been on a competitive swim team for over a year and is helping  KJ to pass his SeaWorld swim assessment. Last Saturday, KJ shadowed our local vet who also happens to be the zoo's vet. He loved it and wants to go back.

We are bound and determined to lower our electric bill. We have fans in most of the windows, lowered the temperature on the water heater, and put up a clothesline. I'll let you know if it works. Speaking of electricity, Waco had a bad storm and a little tornado two weeks ago. We just had several downed limbs to clean up, but lost power for 35 hours. We also had one Red die during the storm, but I'm not positive why. I think she was frightened, ran out of their box, and drowned from the rain blowing sideways.

I have learned that I have low potassium right now and that it can cause major problems. My blood pressure medicine has a diuretic in it, plus I've been working outside in the heat and sweating my clothes out. That combined to make my potassium low. I had been having tingling in my arms and cramping in my legs, but didn't think anything about it, just drank more water. Wednesday night, I had stomach cramps, but started my period on Thursday morning and figured that was why. The cramping got worse on Thursday. By Thursday night, I broke down and took a Vicodin for the pain. That night, about 1:00am, I walked to the bathroom, sat down, and don't remember anything else. I woke up on the bathroom floor with a knot on my forehead. Apparently, I passed out, fell over forward and landed face first. I was shaking all over, was dizzy, and couldn't get up so I crawled to the living room where David heard me calling his name. He took my blood pressure which was 90/75 and wanted to take me to ER, but I refused to go. I felt terrible all night and called my doctor at 8:00am. To shorten this story, David took me in, bloodwork was done, and my potassium was low. If your potassium is low, it can cause the electrical impulses in your heart to misfire causing a cardiac arythmia which is why I passed out. It also causes all the other symptoms I had including the abdominal cramping.
