working out
I have a bad track record of joining gyms and then rarely working out. However, in light of my massive weight gain and a few health problems, I decided to try again. I have several friends who work out at the Family YMCA, so after my promises to actually go this time, David bought us a family membership on Monday. KJ was having a swim lesson there on Tuesday so I decided to work out then. Tuesday morning, I started to look for my tennis shoes. Hmmmm, surely I have a pair....not with the rest of my shoes on the door...not on the floor with David's...must be in this paper sack of old shoes in the back of the closet. It looks like I must have worn this to mow in two years ago. They were pretty clunky, but I washed and dried them. One obstacle down. Now for shorts. I don't have any! I sorted through David's short drawer and found a pair of nylon hiking shorts that didn't look toooooo bad. I'll just wear a big T-shirt to hide the cargo pockets. Two obstacles down. I put on the large T-shirt and immediately noticed obstacle #3. I feel that bras were invented by some man to make women uncomfortable and prefer to go au natural. I haven't worn a bra in 3 years and don't even own a regular one. I did remember buying a sports bra about 30 pounds ago, though. I found it and shoved, pushed, pulled, and squashed myself into it. I nearly dislocated a shoulder in the process and couldn't breath deeply, but I was in with only a minimum of boob squashed out the sides. I put the T-shirt back on and, "Oh my God." Now that my breasts were pulled together and up, my shirt hung over the edge like it was draped over a shelf. Looking at the total package, I was scary. (and very butch) I DID work out though!

P.S. I worked out again today by swimming (treading water, kickboard, some water aerobic exercises) with KJ so I didn't have to worry about proper attire this time.

Two weeks ago, my nephews, Cooper and Cason came to stay for a week. We really enjoyed having them down and definately got more exercise than usual. You can see our week here or click the link above. In addition to what is in the pictures, the boys played on the trails across the street, gathered eggs, helped feed and water the chickens, rode KJ's scooter up and down the rode, played on the computers, and watched movies. I can hardly wait for them to come again.

I also updated my links page. If you are not there and want to be, please let me know.
