The Colors of the Laser

by Robin Holly ttto The Colors of the Wind from the Disney musical Pocahontas

You think you own whatever world you land on
The Earth is just a planet you can claim
You make a token offer of repayment
And think you are the first to play that game

You think the only people that are people
Are the ones up in that starship there with you
And you've the rays and blasters to destroy us
But there's something you should know before you do

Chorus Have you ever seen a laser that can burn through steel
Or stop a comet that would kill our race?
Did you know that we have aimed them at your starship
And are ready now to blow you out of space?

You thought we were an undefended target
A low tech world of no especial worth
You couldn't know our long and bloody history
How we grow up fighting almost from our birth

And you didn't know that we have found a starship
It crashed and it was damaged when it fell
But it had lightspeed engines, rays and blasters
Which our factories can copy pretty well

How far does our weapons' range go?
Attack us now and you'll surely know!

Chorus

All our countries have become a giant army
Committed to defend our world, the Earth
And every human who can pull a trigger
Now mans a weapon, that is soon to prove its worth

So go and tell the other alien races
Let them know about us right from the start
If they should dare to show their ugly faces
We are ready to blow them all apart

Chorus
(finish) Yes, we'd be happy to blow you out of space.
