The Rambling Reader

by Jonathan Turner and Robin Holly, ttto "The Ramblin' Rover"

Chorus:
There's SF books in plenty
And not a one in twenty
Has science that's authentic and in genuine physics based
But give me a book with pages
Of aliens and mages
Adventurers and sages and a journey through outer space

Verses:
Oh, I've rambled through the fiction
Taken delight in pleasing diction
And I've generated friction when requested to criticize
And when new books prove no pleasure,
I'll wander at my leisure
Through the old books that I treasure, for the marvels they realize

Oh, there's many with predilections
For reading mainstream fiction
They consider us an affliction that should never be taught in school
So they sniff and sneer and thunder
While we ignore their blunder
Read the books with sense of wonder, and we're happier as a rule

When your eyes grow dim and clouded
The bookshelves all are crowded
And the guests you have allowed said that they cannot find the door
It isn't all that scary
You needn't leave for Paris
Just move into a library and there will always be room for more
