A treble of No4's from WWII and later. The top is a Canadian No4 Mk1*. (Just barely visible in the image is the lack of micrometer adjuster for the back sight, it just has a sprung slide catch). The bottom rifle is an example of one of the Irish contract No4 Mk2s. Presumably the supply of normal stocking material had been exhausted. The alternate variety was used, which in my opinion makes a fine looking rifle.
Here is a good view of the left side of the receiver of this No4 Mk2. As you can see, it is a Fazakerly made rifle (the F in parenthesis) and was made in January of 1955 (1/55). The '[PF' is part of the beginning of the serial number. The range for this rifle and Skennerton's book, places it as one of the Irish Contract Rifles.
This is a good comparason of the basic No1 and No4 nose caps.

Two examples of No4 Bayonets. At top is the later blade type at bottom is the austerity pattern spike and the associated scabbard.
