217 Cumberland Knob - 1000 acres, picnic area, comfort stations, drinking water, visitor information, public phone. 15 minute loop trail to Cumberland Knob. Loop trail into Gully Creek Gorge. 2 hours. 218.6 Fox Hunters Paradise - Overlook and parking area. 10 min. by trail to the Paradise, where old-time hunters listened to their hounds. 229 US 21 Crossover - West 7 mi to Sparta. East 4 mi to Roaring Gap. 238.5 Doughton Park - 7,000 acres picnic area (Milepost 241), Campground (Milepost 239), trailer sites, comfort stations, drinking water, 30 mi of trail. Be sure to visit Wildcat Rock (Milepost 241.1) from which one can see the homestead of the Caudill family, a dramatic exhibit of isolated mountain life. 248.1 NC 18 Crossover - 2 mi West to Laurel Springs. 24 mi East to North Wilkesboro, NC. 261 NC 18 Crossover - West 12 mi to Jefferson, 14 mi to West Jefferson. East 20 mi to North Wilkesboro. 272 E.B. Jeffress Park - Picnic area, comfort station, trail to Cascades. 276.4 Deep Gap - US 421 Crossover. W 11 mi to Boone. 291 US 321 & 221 Crossover - 7 mi North to Boone, 2 mi South to Blowing Rock. 292-7 Moses H. Cone Memorial Park - 3,6000 acres. Many miles of horse and carriage trails, hiking and fishing. 295 Historic Cone Manor House, Parkway Craft Center - Comfort stations, visitor information, publications. 295 Julian Price Memorial Park - 4,344 acres. Camp ground, picnic area, fishing, trails. 304.4 Linn Cove Viaduct Information Center Comfort station. Trail access to viaduct. 305.2 Junction Parkway and US 221 - 3 mi West to Linville. Exit for Banner Elk & Beech Mt. 308.2 Flat Rock Parking Area - Self-guiding nature trail to superb view of Linville Valley and Grandfather Mtn. 312 NC 181 Crossover - 32 mi. S.E. to Morganton, 2 mi. N to Pineola. 316.3 Linville Falls Visitor's Center Trail to overlooks of falls and gorge. 316.4 Linville River Parking Area - One of the Parkway's largest stone arch bridges. Three spans of 80 feet each. Picnic area and comfort station. 317.4 US 221 Crossover - South 3 mi to Linville Falls. 24 mi. to Marion. 320.7 Chestoa View - An unusually fine view from one of the many vertical cliffs on Humpback Mountain. 331 NC 226 Crossover - 6 mi. South to Cherokee, 29 mi. North to Gatlinburg. The Great Smoky Mtns. National Park is located equally in NC and Tenn.
