Front Bearings

After I got the rear end fixed up I took the jeep for a test drive.  I got 1/4 mile and heard some nasty sounds.  I looked out and noticed that the front left wheel was wobbling like a drunk man.  Concerned that the wheel would fall off if I put lateral stress on it by turning I backed up all the way to the house.  I raised the vehicle, removed the front left wheel and hub.  As I removed the hub the outer bearings fell on to the ground.  I guess that is a problem.

Front Left Axel, Spindle and Bearing

Removed the differential cover.  There was probably enough gear oil in there to keep the mud from freezing.  I need to install higher axel ventilation tubes to keep the water out.  Every time I take the Jeep for a swim I am pouring muddy water into the axels.  That's got to be not a good thing...

What's the best way to get that outer bearing off and a new one on?  I've tried using a gear puller on it but was not been successful.  Maybe I need to try harder?  Even if comes off I doubt the new one will just slide on.
