OKLP Convention Minutes

Saturday, February 22, 2003

Meeting was called to order at 10:08 a.m.

Gary Nolan, Libertarian Presidential Candidate spoke.

A recessed was called.

Meeting resumed at 10:54 a.m.

Chris Powell gave a report from the platform committee.

Robert Murphy made a motion to establish a state platform.  The motion was seconded.  Robert Murphy amended his motion to establish an OKLP legislative agenda.  The motion was seconded and passed.

Lynn Atherton expressed the opinion that the platform committee's recommendations be forwarded to the national party.

Blake Fry proposed establishing bylaws regarding the legislative agenda.

A ten minute recess was called to write bylaws.

The meeting recessed for lunch.

The meeting resumed at 1:00 p.m.

Dr. Mary Ruwart spoke on fully informed juries.

The meeting recessed for five minutes.

Bylaws changes proposed by Blake Fry, Clark Duffe and Tom Laurent were considered.

Bylaw changes eliminating the communications, membership, outreach, finance, public relations and legislative committees and chairs were approved.  Bylaw changes moving the duties of these chairs to the remaining executive council members were approved.

Bylaw changes eliminating references to Congressional District Chairs were approved.

Bylaw changes eliminating state conventions on odd numbered years were approved.  Officers elected this year will serve one year terms and new elections will be held at the 2004 OKLP Convention.

Bylaw changes renaming county organizations to local organizations were approved.

Elections were held for the OKLP Executive Committee.  The following individuals were elected to office by acclamation:
Chris Powell - State Chair
Albro Daniel - State Vice Chair
Paula Brittain - State Treasurer
Amy Powell -  State Secretary

Lynn Atherton announced that Harry Brown has agreed to speak at the 2004 OKLP State Convention.

The OKLP Legislative Agenda was created.  The legislative agenda will be posted at www.oklp.org.

The meeting was adjourned.
