
Use this site for your state research to develop your character. Then scroll down and visit several of the other sites to get more information about your state's geography, landmarks, universities, interesting places to visit, etc. Do not limit your internet research to this one page!
This wonderful site from the History Channel offers all kinds of information about what happened on today's date in a different year. Grouped into categories, you'll find happenings for different industries and even different wars. You can also search for events that happened on any other date, just by using the pull down menus. Have you ever wondered what historical events took place on your birthday? You can also use this for your state project. More importantly, this site will help you develop your character. As soon as you click on to the site, you will see a gray search box on the left side of the page. Type in the name of your state and click search. Determine what information will be useful and then scroll down, looking on the right side of the page, until you see "History of the World Timeline." Ignore "select century." Select the decade you want and begin your research. Remember to consider how old you'd be at any given time. For example, select 1930-1939 to see what was happening during your childhood. These events may not have a big impact on you, but they may have been important to your parents.
