Another Fatal Accident

Charles Hale, a Wealthy Farmer Killed Near Falls Mills Yesterday

Caught on a Bridge by the Pocahontas Passenger Train

Charles Hale, one of the wealthiest farmers in this section, who resided in the Falls Mills neighborhood, where he owned a large amount of property, was struck by the passenger train running from Bluefield to Pocahontas yesterday afternoon about one o'clock and instsantly killed.

Mr. Hale was walking west on the track in the direction of his home, and on reaching the second trestle west of Graham, evidently gave his full attention to an east bound frieght which was standing on the a siding waiting for the passenger train to go by. He stated to crosss the trestle and was run down by the passenger train, which struck him from behind, inflicting injuries, principally about the head, which caused almost instant death.

The body was taken on the train to Falls Mills, and from thre to his late home. He was sixty-five years of age and one of the most prominent and widely known citizens of this section, enjoying the respect and esteem of a large circle of acquaintances and friends, to whom the news of his tragic death is a severe shock.

The funeral will take place this evening, and he will be buried near his home about mile and a half below Graham.

He leaves a wife and seven children, all grown and well known in this vicinity.
