of John Mize and Florence Tarter.Born 1850/1860`s. Left Wythe Co about
1888-1890 for(Carter Co), Ky. John was a railroad worker and came to Ky.
to work on the RR going to eastern Ky and West Va.Children included
Ephriam,Sam,Earl,Charlie,Bill,Frank,Harvey,Delia,Ethel,Stella, and Bertie
Jane. Bertie Jane Mize is my maternal grandmother. She was born July 1884
in Wythe Co. Bertie married Hezekiah JONES born March 1881 in Rowan Co,
Ky.They married 1901.
moved to Elton/Antigo, Wisc before returning to Ky and settling in

the first time. He is married to a Virginia /Jennie/Jean Bratton. Any

she married my ggrandfather HENRY LONG. It has been reported
that she lived around Burksgarden. The only FORTNERS that I
found that could be her parents were: l860 census Wythe co
ll68-1038 WILLIAM FORTNER and wife MINERVA age 30 and 23
children: Jane? age l2, Margaret age 9, charles age8, ann? age 5,
John? age .l. They settled in Hancock Co, Tn and I have all family info

1798. He later moved to Blount Co. where he married Sarah H. McLin. He
had several children. One of them was my Xgrandfather Thomas Chapman.
John P. Chapman died in Blount County, Tn. Oct. 17, 1886. I do not have

Looking for any one who may have info on an John and Fanny Dunford. My
Great-Grandfater married a Susan Ann Dunford b. Abt. 1875. The marriage
was in Franklin County, Va. in 1892. The parents of Susan (Listed as
Susie) was recorded as Jon and Fanny Dompherd from Floyd, County, Va. I
can find no Dompheard anywhere in Va. Susan went by the name Susan
Dunford. I seen a John and Fanny Dunford list in a 1870 index of the 1870
Census for Wythe County, Va. Susan was born in 1875 and was raised by the
Daniel family in Franklin County, Va. Susan is not on the 1880 Census of
Franklin County, Va. I plan on checking the 1880 Census' for Floyd and
Wythe Counties when I return to my FHC in San Diego, which is 90 mile
away.

I am researching Peter and Elizabeth Wetzel families. They were in Wythe
Co. from about 1802 where they had 11 children. They are believed to be
buried in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemeter. Their children were Elizabeth
(Phillippe), George, Mary (Wampler),Samuel,Anna (Brown),Sophia (Kinder),
Michael, Peter, and Jesse. I would like to hear from anyone researching

I researching Leonard and Anna Maria Straw. From about 1800 they were in
Wythe Co. VA . Leonard was born about 1757-1759 and Anna Maria was born
about 1760. Believe they may have come from PA. As of 1800 they are
found in Wythe Co. VA. He was the Sheriff many times and had a Straw
Mill. Believe Leonard and Maria may be buried in the St. Johns Lutheran
Cemetery. They had six children: Leonard, Jr. who married Mildred
Flournay, John F. married Polly Leftwich, Elizabeth married John
Frederick Wetzel, Polly married Daniel Wisely, David may have married
Barbara Wisely, and Rachel married Hiram Ward. I appreciate hearing from
anyone who may be or knows someone that is researching this family.

about 1818 or 1822. Wythe County marriage records indicate marriage to
Lucinda GRAY on January 21, 1841. John and Lucinda settled near Max

William, Riley, Nancy, and Agnes. Also found three other MABE men

I am trying to clear up a mysterie: Jesse Franklin SMITH was married to
Sabrine FADDIS on 25 Aug. 1853 in Wythe Co. VA. He was buried in Smith
Co. Cemetery, near Boone Furnace in Pulaski co. on 14 Jan. 1904. in 1860
he is as Franklin WALK on the Wythe Co. Census, in 1870 he is Franklin
SMITH. We have bible records which were also changed around that time.
Jesse Franklin's parents were David SMITH and Hannah WALK.
Their other children were Calvin married Mary EVERSOLE, Cecilia Jane
married Edward BRALLEY and Sarah Ellen married Thomas Sawyers,
Is anybody researching this SMITH or WALK family or any of the others?

The family story goes that he paid taxes there from 1825 and

Seeking data regarding the descendants of SAMUEL MORGAN EAGLE &
MARTHA JANE NEECE of Wythe Co., SAMUEL was born about 1831 in Wythe Co.,
and died in 1899 in Bland County, Virginia. Martha Jane was the daughter
of George Neece & Phoebe Walters. She died abt 1923 in Bland Co.,
and is buried in the Lower Stowers cemetary next to her husband-in
unmarked graves. Also interested in the NEECE & WALTERS families. I

DAVID GOSE married ELIZABETH PEERY in 1830. David was from Tazewell
County and Elizabeth was from Wythe County. They were married before
Smyth and Bland counties split off from Wythe County, Virginia. I have
David's ancestry but WHO was Elizabeth's parents. My wife and I were at
the Tazewell Library the other day and found the book "Pioneers of
The Bluegrass" but we could not find the parents of Elizabeth Peery.

Sophia died sometime in the 1860s. David Denny then married NANCY PEERY.

then wound up in WISCONSIN. Andrew & Susan had a son, DANIEL
ROSENBAUM who married MARTHA REYNOLDS, dau of LEWIS REYNOLDS & LYDIA
SEXTON. Because I have seen the Sexton name also in Wythe, believe
these different families were somehow connected as most migrated
to Illinois then Wisconsin before settling in South Dakota & Iowa.

My ggGrandparents were William Cloyd FARRIS & Nancy E. ALLISON both
born in Wythe Co. They were married in Pulaski Co. 9 August 1859.
Nancy E. ALLISON was the d/o Francis ALLISON & Martha
"Patsey" HOWARD.
William Cloyd FARRIS was b.21 May 1834 Wythe Co. His marriage license
lists his parents as Jno. & Martha FARRIS. Martha was an ALLISON,
sister to the above Francis ALLISON. As to the father of William Cloyd
Farris, family genealogies state that the father of William was James
FARRIS of South Carolina. That he fought in the war with Mexico in 1844
and never returned.
William Farris is on the 1850 Pulaski Census with his Mother, Martha, and
siblings. He is also on the 1860 Census with his new wife Nancy.
There were not any FARRIS'S listed in the 1840 Census for Pulaski.
Need information on the father of William Cloyd FARRIS.

My great great grandparents were David Wyrick born January 1801
in Wythe County, VA, and Malinda Cline, born May 1, 1803, also
in Wythe County. On June 23, 1825, they were married in Wythe
County. In about 1830 they migrated to Clark County, IL where
they remained until they died, and are buried in the Livingston

My XXgrandfather John P. Chapman was born in Wythe Co., Va. March 9, 1798. He later moved to Blount Co. where he married Sarah H. McLin. He had several children. Looking for any one who may have info on an John and Fanny Dunford. My Great-Grandfater married a Susan Ann Dunford b. Abt. 1875. The marriage was in Franklin County, Va. in 1892. The parents of Susan (Listed as Susie) was recorded as Jon and Fanny Dompherd from Floyd, County, Va. I can find no Dompheard anywhere in Va. Susan went by the name Susan Dunford. I seen a John and Fanny Dunford list in a 1870 index of the 1870 Census for Wythe County, Va. Susan was born in 1875 and was raised by the Daniel family in Franklin County, Va. Susan is not on the 1880 Census of Franklin County, Va. I plan on checking the 1880 Census' for Floyd and Wythe Counties when I return to my FHC in San Diego, which is 90 mile away.

I researching Leonard and Anna Maria Straw. From about 1800 they were in Wythe Co. VA . Leonard was born about 1757-1759 and Anna Maria was born about 1760. Believe they may have come from PA. As of 1800 they are found in Wythe Co. VA. He was the Sheriff many times and had a Straw Mill. Believe Leonard and Maria may be buried in the St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. FRANKLIN was listed in the Estill County, Ky. census in 1870 and the Lee County, Ky. census in 1880. He had two children, HENRY listed as 3 years old and SIMEON OR SAMUEL age 1. His wife was listed as JUDA. FRANKLIN says he was born in VA. His wife's maiden name was SLOAN. She was born in KY. Any info on this family would be appreciated. Thanks.

DAVID GOSE married ELIZABETH PEERY in 1830. David was from Tazewell
County and Elizabeth was from Wythe County. They were married before
Smyth and Bland counties split off from Wythe County, Virginia. I have
David's ancestry but WHO was Elizabeth's parents. My wife and I were at
the Tazewell Library the other day and found the book "Pioneers of
The Bluegrass" but we could not find the parents of Elizabeth Peery.

Sophia died sometime in the 1860s. David Denny then married NANCY PEERY.
David Denny and Nancy Peery are buried in the Taylor Cemetery near

I am looking for any info on MATHIAS ROSENBAUM & SALLY WORLEY who
were from Wythe Co., before 1800. They had a son, ANDREW ROSENBAUM
who married SUSAN EMELINE WELCH and eventually migrated to IL, and
then wound up in WISCONSIN. Andrew & Susan had a son, DANIEL
ROSENBAUM who married MARTHA REYNOLDS, dau of LEWIS REYNOLDS & LYDIA
SEXTON. Because I have seen the Sexton name also in Wythe, believe
these different families were somehow connected as most migrated
to Illinois then Wisconsin before settling in South Dakota & Iowa.

My ggGrandparents were William Cloyd FARRIS & Nancy E. ALLISON both
born in Wythe Co. They were married in Pulaski Co. 9 August 1859.
Nancy E. ALLISON was the d/o Francis ALLISON & Martha
"Patsey" HOWARD.
William Cloyd FARRIS was b.21 May 1834 Wythe Co. His marriage license
lists his parents as Jno. & Martha FARRIS. Martha was an ALLISON,
sister to the above Francis ALLISON. As to the father of William Cloyd
Farris, family genealogies state that the father of William was James
FARRIS of South Carolina. That he fought in the war with Mexico in 1844
and never returned.
William Farris is on the 1850 Pulaski Census with his Mother, Martha, and
siblings. He is also on the 1860 Census with his new wife Nancy.
There were not any FARRIS'S listed in the 1840 Census for Pulaski.
Need information on the father of William Cloyd FARRIS.

WYRICK - CLINE
My great great grandparents were David Wyrick born January 1801
in Wythe County, VA, and Malinda Cline, born May 1, 1803, also
in Wythe County. On June 23, 1825, they were married in Wythe
County. In about 1830 they migrated to Clark County, IL where
they remained until they died, and are buried in the Livingston
Cemetery in Clark County. Does anyone know who there parents
were and any siblings?
