WTF!?
A new revelation makes the emails from my ex seem all the more bizarre and unprovoked. It turns out she never got my 'hello' email. The one I sent to her a couple of weeks ago went to someone else because I had the address wrong. She must have gone off simply because I passed along an indirect "hello" through a mutual friend. So, she didn't just reply to my email. She had to go to the trouble of starting a new message to me. (2 of them, actually)

So much to do. I don't know how I'll ever get it all done. The house is a wreck. I've got lots of plans for the weekend. And, I still don't have any furniture back in my bedroom. I need to get a bed SOON. At least I can move 'chester' back in there. Poor bastard. I never finished painting him either.

Speaking of painting, it's been weeks since I made any art. I guess with working on the bedroom, I haven't felt like painting anything else. Then there was Seattle Works day, and the trip to Atlanta. So, I've been pretty busy. It would be nice to get back to that soon. I have lots of ideas for paintings. It's just a matter of sitting down and doing it.

I was going to paint my front door today - finally get rid of the Pepto Bismol color. But, the Home Depot guy looked at me like I was crazy when I asked him for flat black. Maybe I need to rethink this. Maybe I can just paint the shutters and doors together; instead of just the door. I'm not quite ready (financially or otherwise) to paint the whole house. So, maybe just these parts will do for now.

Tomorrow, I'm helping Mark judge a robotics competition. Not that I'm some expert on robotics. Mark says we just have to verify if they have completed a series of tasks. Too bad it's not going to be more like Battlebots.

I love my new mouse. But, now Internet Explorer is really starting to piss me off. Nothing with Real Video or Quicktime or Flash ever works anymore.

5 buttons and a scroll wheel,

Happy Half-birthday to ME
I typed all this a few minutes ago, and it disappeared. Oh well. Here I go again.
to sum it up:
Vanilla Coke=good
new Elvis Costello CD=also good
Stuff to do=bad [buy a bed for freshly painted bedroom, get a clock, get a new 2-button mouse, mow the lawn, call a client, mail some stuff, meet Gene for a burrito] There's more, but you get the idea.

Airport Pet Peeve
Why do people always block the baggage carousel while they wait for their luggage? Once my bag finally appears, I always have to elbow my way to the front to retrieve it before it takes another spin around the conveyor belt. I'm like the Dennis Rodman of SeaTac. "Excuse me"-whack!-"Pardon me"-pow!

I'm glad to be back in Seattle. It's cold and rainy, like I like it. My grass is up to my waist. And, all the rhododendrons are in bloom. Time to borrow a mower.

The Atlanta/Augusta trip was the usual mix of good and bad. Some fun times, some boring times; some relaxing days, some boring nights...

I saw Star Wars, episode 2. And, overall... I give it a thumbs up. It was better than the first episode, of course. But, not as good as the original. Bring on Episode 3.

Lots of photos.

Self-portrait, in hammock

I haven't gotten to see all of the people I had hoped to hang out with while I'm here in Atlanta. Some people already had plans; others just blew me off completely; others, I keep missing / phone tag, blah blah blah. But, I'm still having a pretty good time. I went to the park today, since the Jazz festival is going on. But, the music didn't start until later in the day. So, I didn't get to hear any bands. I just walked around and took a few pictures; checked out the artists' booths, ...

I've got one more day here. And, it's a work day. I'll work from the Garden House, and then fly back to Seattle Tuesday night. I wonder if my plants are still alive? or if my grass is knee-high? I feel like I've been gone forever. And, I have tons of things to do as soon as I hit the ground.
favorite moment, Augusta: Cole's baseball game; grilling veggies with Mom.
favorite moment, Atlanta: Checking out the Apple Store with BT.
least favorite moment, Augusta: missing Rachel's t-ball game.
least favorite moment, Atlanta: not having anybody to spend Memorial day with.

Ex.
I made the mistake of reaching out to say hello (via email) to my ex-girlfriend last week. I thought it was a friendly gesture; an innocent "hi, hope you're doing well". Well, apparantly, she's been stewing on the breakup and just looking for a chance to lash out. So, she emails back 2 rants that tore me to shreds. This is EIGHT months later. And, she had to come back and tear me a new one because she didn't like the way things turned out. You'd think she would have moved on by now. I certainly have. I didn't respond to her because I did not want to get baited into a fight. I'm taking the high road on this one. The only thing still bugging me about it all is that she made it sound like one of my friends is passing information along to her. And, that sucks. Now, I'm wondering if I can trust certain people. I guess I just have to withhold anything on a personal level that he might be telling her. Her tirade just reinforces for me what I already knew - that I made the right decision by breaking up with her.

Human Clock.com
This is another of my favorite new sites. Check it out. I have a few photos there. They come up randomly when there are more than one for a particular time.

I'm still in Augusta until Saturday. Can't wait to get to Atlanta. But, it's been pretty fun so far. I saw Cole's baseball game last night. (They lost.) And, I'll catch Rachel's t-ball game tonight. Last night, I met up with McDowell for a beer. Also ran into Pete, who I hadn't seen in a couple of years. McDowell looks pretty different, but seems to be doing well. I got pictures of his son. Cameron just turned one on Tuesday. And, McDowell hits 35 (well before I) on Saturday.

Travel News - Augusta update
I arrived in Augusta this morning around 9.a.m. eastern/6, Pacific. After a bumpy and sleepless redeye from Seattle, I decided to drive on into town. Everybody in Atlanta was still asleep when i touched down, at 5:30. And, I needed a computer to work on. So, I thought it would be easier to go ahead and make the trip rather than wake up Karole or Laura. After picking up my Hertz car, (by the way... they have the newest, cleanest, most efficient rental service I've ever seen in my life: new buses with little video screens and a fancy p.a. system; a high tech parking deck; great cars, etc...) I stopped off at good old Highland bagel for a toasted wheat, and a double mocha from Caribou coffee. I miss that place.

I listened to the morning X radio show for the first time in a good long while. And, though the DJs still get on my nerves, it was fun to hear a familiar crew at that hour. I also got to hear a good Tom Glavine interview that focused on non-baseball topics. He'll be pitching tonight. I haven't seen the Braves in a while. So, it will be good to catch up on them later.
On the way to Augusta, I stopped at a gas station and picked up a couple of bottles of the new Vanilla Coke! You can't get that in Washington yet. So, I knew Georgia would have it.

Trying to stay awake now and get some work done. Tonight, me.. the parents.. and Coleman and crew are going out for pizza. Clear and warm here today. I've slept about 2 hours in the last 24. And, I am in serious need of a shower.

A thought: What if there were a new travel company: "Paranoia AirLines" - for those who are too scared to fly after 9/11. For a little extra money, only Americans are allowed on board; pilots and crew are armed; everyone is searched before takeoff; no alcohol is served;....

What's for lunch? I think I'll go to Subway. It's gotta be better than what I might find in the pantry here.

Today, I used the word "skeedaddle" in a conversation with my Dad's friend. As in: "I'm going to skeedaddle by Saturday night, when mom's dinner party starts." The south has a weird effect on me.

My new favorite site. I've sent about 8 pictures in. Watch for them. Send your own! Digital cameras are fun; but, time flies by when you're overdocumenting your life.

My Fist Blog Entry
This is a test of my first blog. I hope you like it. I have no idea if this will work. But, I'm going to give it a shot. This page will take the place of my fill page. I plan to post news and updates, photos, favorite links, etc. Come back often. I will be updating this blog regularly.
I'm going to Atlanta today. I leave at 9:45 pm. Shara is giving me a ride to the airport. I get to Atlanta at 5 a.m. Then, I'll either have to kill a few hours before meeting up with Karole, or drive to Augusta and spend the day with my Dad. Hmmm.

E-mail me! It's been a while.
