John Walker Lindh gets off
So, the American Taliban guy got a plea bargain deal. For all that he did, he gets off with a mere 20-year sentence. Does that sound fair? He admitted his guilt. But, the judge still went easy on him.

Out On A Limb
I've got this theory about the Iraq situation. A lot of people are wasting their time protesting the fact that Bush wants to get permission to wage war on S. Hussein. But, I think it's just a front. I think he just wants to show the guy how big his balls are. He'll probably just push this approval thing through to make Iraq know that we're fucking serious. Once they see we're ready to lay the smack down, they'll roll over and do whatever we ask them to do... Even though Bush doesn't doesn't really ever plan to go to war with them in the first place.

Rained Out
The art walk got rained out tonight. Well, it had stopped raining by the time the art walk started. But, I didn't go. My art isn't exactly waterproof. So, I just stayed in. It sucks because I had all these new photos ready to go. But, there's always next month.

In better art news, I have a photography show lined up at Rosebud restaurant in Capitol Hill. You just have to wait until next May to actually see the show though.

Other good news: tomorrow is Friday. And, while that may mean a lot to people with regular jobs... for me, it's something different, and better. Friday is the day that I get to visit the cute barista at Starbuck$. She makes one smokin' mocha.

First Check
I got my first unemployment check finally. I guess I won't lose the house now. It's only a few hundred dollars. But, it will have to do. The first part of the month is so tough because the mortgage is due. And, you have these other bills that have to get paid too. Forget trying to save any money while you're unemployed. It just doesn't happen anymore. No more 401(k) money coming in either.

Unemployment is Strange
I am still adjusting. I am still experiencing a weird mix of reactions from people because of my new status. Many still think this is a bad thing that I was laid off. They say "how's it going?" with sadness and pity in their voices. They ask "any job leads?" as though I would go back to working for tha man. When I refuse an invitation to go out to dinner or join friends for drinks (which I still do, but not as often as I used to), they offer to pay. But, I'm not a charity case. I don't want people to pay my way for things now. I'd rather work my way back up; save money by not going out as often; then rejoin the people who can afford such things when I'm back on my feet.

I still haven't gotten my severance check, even though I sent my computer back a week ago. They should have everything they need from me now. So, I'm wondering where my cash is.

I don't have any health insurance right now. So, I'm hoping to stay healthy for a while. And, I'm avoiding risky activities like rollerblading or lion wrestling. [Though I still drive my car pretty regularly.. and that's more dangerous than inhaling lead paint.]
