Serenity Now
I'm not a carnivore. But, if I were.. I think I'd be eating a Border Collie burrito right about now. The dog next door, "Sparky," loves to bark at things that aren't there. At 5 a.m. this morning, he decided that Crown Hill was being invaded by aliens. "I must alert the neighborhood," Sparky cried! It didn't help much when Barky's owner came out to silence him and take him into the house. I'm not sure which of them was louder. I'm not real big on those electrical bark-collars. Sparky has one. But, he doesn't wear it often enough.

a walk in Discovery Park. October 1st.

I'll post a few more pictures over the next week or so.

My mac is back! Apple gave me back a working CD player.. just in time for the release of the new Foo Fighters CD (playing now).

Sniper strikes again
I've got this theory about the identity of the sniper. See if you can follow me on this one. It's somebody who lives in the DC area. Somebody who has others watching his back to make sure he doesn't get caught. Somebody who has access to firearms; probably a member of the NRA. (a most-favored member) Somebody who could use some distraction from his policies on a potential war with Iraq? Somebody who can "outsmart" Chief Moose. (that shouldn't take much brain power) Hmmm, who could that be? Have you noticed that no sniper attacks take place when the cameras are actually on Dubya? Have you ever seen Dubya and the sniper in the same place at the same time?

Powerbook problems
My brand new powerbook has been sent back to Apple. The CD drive quit working. So, they're replacing it for me. I guess it's better that it happened now than when I'm swamped with work... or out of warranty. It sucks to be working on the big clunky old G3 again though. Everything feels so different. The monitor is 2 inches from my face because it takes up the whole desk.

Human Clock
they used one of my human clock photos in the submission gallery. I sent it in a long long time ago. But, they just got around to updating it. I took it when I was also shooting mirror project photos. So, the one in the gallery is a combo.

Art Show
I'm putting together a show of hubcap art in a few months. If you're a Seattle artist who wants to participate, let me know! I hope to exhibit our stuff at The Garage in Capitol Hill.

Meetup
I'm going to the weblogger meetup tonight at the sit and spin. 2 new experiences in one. Should be interesting. I wonder how I'll figure out who they are? There should be little yellow floating tool tips over their heads or something to help me out.

I've been reading a few of the blogs of some of the other Seattle people. Seems like a really interesting bunch. Quite a few other photographers, even. Which is cool.

Speaking of which, I went on a fall hike in the park slash photo shoot on the beach today at Discovery Park. The weather was perfect- it's like summer again today. There's nothing like sitting on the "beach" listening to the "waves" hit the "shore." It's a great sound.. until the Kenmore air dude flies overhead.. or the coast guard chopper cruises past. Kind of a buzz kill.

My fucking powerbook is broken. I've had it only a few weeks and the CD drive died on me. I have to send it back tomorrow so they can fix it. I hate to do it. Not that I have anything to work on right now. But, I hate to give it up when it's so new and I'm so hooked on the thing. I'll be practically computerless for a week. I guess I could fire up the G3 desktop that's collecting dust in my closet. Problem with that is that the fuggin keyboard works only sporadically. I think the c key doesn't work. And there are a few others that don't work as well. So, I'll have to find substitute words.. like in the book "Ella Minnow Pea."

Have they found the sniper yet?? My friend John lives in the DC area.. and has been to a few of the places where people have been picked off. I instructed him not to leave the house again.

I've mailed out 200 self-pimpin' postcards. I hope they generate some business for me.

Strange Dreams
I had some strange dreams last night. In one of them, I decided that fast food restaurants would soon need to post disclaimers on their menus. They would be sort of like the Terms of Use agreements on a web site, or a software license agreement. "By purchasing and consuming this food, you are acknowledging that coffee is made hot, that french fries are made with animal parts, and that eating cheeseburgers will make your ass really huge." Or words to that effect.

The Moose!
Has anyone listened to this Charles Moose guy? He's the cop that's investigating the D.C. sniper shootings. He is not the best person to put in front of a microphone. This guy talks like James Brown. How does someone so seemingly unintelligent get a position of power such as this?

"New-klee-er"
Why is it that the leader of the free world ("W") can't even pronounce a word he uses dozens of times in a national speech about Iraq?

John Walker Lindh gets off
So, the American Taliban guy got a plea bargain deal. For all that he did, he gets off with a mere 20-year sentence. Does that sound fair? He admitted his guilt. But, the judge still went easy on him.

Out On A Limb
I've got this theory about the Iraq situation. A lot of people are wasting their time protesting the fact that Bush wants to get permission to wage war on S. Hussein. But, I think it's just a front. I think he just wants to show the guy how big his balls are. He'll probably just push this approval thing through to make Iraq know that we're fucking serious. Once they see we're ready to lay the smack down, they'll roll over and do whatever we ask them to do... Even though Bush doesn't doesn't really ever plan to go to war with them in the first place.

Rained Out
The art walk got rained out tonight. Well, it had stopped raining by the time the art walk started. But, I didn't go. My art isn't exactly waterproof. So, I just stayed in. It sucks because I had all these new photos ready to go. But, there's always next month.

In better art news, I have a photography show lined up at Rosebud restaurant in Capitol Hill. You just have to wait until next May to actually see the show though.

Other good news: tomorrow is Friday. And, while that may mean a lot to people with regular jobs... for me, it's something different, and better. Friday is the day that I get to visit the cute barista at Starbuck$. She makes one smokin' mocha.

First Check
I got my first unemployment check finally. I guess I won't lose the house now. It's only a few hundred dollars. But, it will have to do. The first part of the month is so tough because the mortgage is due. And, you have these other bills that have to get paid too. Forget trying to save any money while you're unemployed. It just doesn't happen anymore. No more 401(k) money coming in either.
