Strangulation Label©
Strangulation Warning Label; (3.75" x 3.75") See CPSC Section 3.2.1, pages 14 and 15, and ASTM #F1487-11 Section 14.2.3. This label will inform, warn, and educate about the hazard of a user being strangled on the playground and what steps to take to mitigate it, and provides graphics for complete message clarity.

Note: CPSC says to place this label on or near “slides or other equipment”, however, entrances to the entire play area are the best locations so that the “message is conveyed” in a timely manner.

Hot Surface Label©
"Hot Surface" Warning Label; (2.5" x 2.5") See CPSC Sections 2.1, 2.4.2.1, 2.5.3, 5.3.6, and ASTM #F1487-11 Section 14.2.4. This label warns the caregiver about the hazard of burn injuries and to check surfacing and/or equipment before use to mitigate burn injuries.

Surfacing Label©
Surfacing Warning Label (version "A") (2.5" x 2.5") complies with ASTM #F1487-11, Section 14.2.5. This label will inform, warn, and educate about the hazard of play equipment located over hard surfaces. The purpose of this label is to serve as a constant reminder to provide and maintain appropriate surfacing.

Surfacing Label©
Surfacing Warning Label (version "B") (2.5" x 2.5") complies with ASTM #F1487-11, Section 14.2.5. This label will inform, warn, and educate about the hazard of play equipment located over hard surfaces. The purpose of this label is to serve as a constant reminder to provide and maintain appropriate surfacing.

Adult Supervision Label©
"Adult Supervision Is Recommended" Label (2.5" x 2.5") tells users and caregivers that the playground is not intended as a place for unsupervised play. See CPSC Sections 1.6, 2.2.7, and the ASTM #F1487 “Introduction” and Section 14.2.2.

Age Group 2-5 Labels© Age Group 2-12 Labels© Age Group 5-12 Labels© Age Group Labels (2.5" x 2.5" each) help with age separation, which is critical to safety and correct inspection evaluations! "For kids ages 2-5 years", "For kids ages 5-12 years", "For kids ages 2-12 years". CPSC Section 2.2.6 says "Labels posted in the playground area or on the equipment should give some guidance to supervisors as to the age appropriateness of the equipment." Also, CPSC Section 2.2.7 says "Supervisors should look for posted signs indicating the appropriate age of the users and direct children to equipment appropriate for their age." See ASTM Standard #F1487 Section 5.2, and Section 14.2.1 that requires these labels as well.

Tot Seat Label©
Tot Seat Label (2.5" x 2.5") says "Tot Seats for use by children under 4 years of age, with adult assistance" (per CPSC) and tells users and supervisors the appropriate ages for tot seats. It will reduce wear and tear, breakage, misuse, and injuries from users who are too old to use it. CPSC Section 2.2.6 says "Labels posted in the playground area or on the equipment should give some guidance to supervisors as to the age appropriateness of the equipment." Also, CPSC Section 2.2.7 says "Supervisors should look for posted signs indicating the appropriate age of the users and direct children to equipment appropriate for their age." See CPSC Sections 2.2.6, 2.2.7, and 5.3.8.3.2. See ASTM Standard #F1487 Section 14.2.1 as well.

Surfacing Level Marker Label©
Surfacing Level Marker Labels (2.5" x 2.5") allow maintenance people, supervisors, and users to quickly and easily check the support posts for the proper amount of loose fill surfacing depth. If the surfacing is below the marker, it's time to fluff it up or add more surfacing. See CPSC Sections 2.4.2.2(4) and 4.3.

Self-Stick Warning and Information Labels Conform To The Following:

Making signs or labels yourself?

Consider the requirements to comply with the applicable ASTM (Sect. 14) and ANSI Standards: letter size, proper language, graphics, coloring, reflectivity, etc. Your end costs are much higher compared to buying labels from us. Plus, our GENERIC labels attach to the equipment itself!

HOW TO CALCULATE LABEL TYPE and QUANTITIES NEEDED

Placement of safety labels is critical in today’s litigious society, for lowering liability, and for getting the message across to prevent injuries. Our labels pass the stringent ANSI Signage/Label Standards for letter type and size, background coloring, graphics, reflectivity, etc., as well as the ASTM Standards and CPSC Guidelines. They can be placed onto any brand of equipment.

Consider covering labels with clear plastic to prohibit vandalism and to make them stay on surfaces that may be difficult to stick to. Use round headed screws that are not sharp.

  1. All labels (except for Surfacing Level Marker Labels) must be placed so that users and supervisors can see them from any direction that they approach the playground. For open playgrounds (non-fenced), labels can be placed on the equipment itself SUCH AS in a triangulated configuration (6:00, 10:00, & 2:00) for the playground and equipment so that the labels are seen upon approach from any direction. For fenced-in playgrounds, most labels can be placed near or at the entry/entries on a freestanding post at adult eye level (see "AGE GROUP labels" and "Tot Seat Age Group" for important information below). In all cases, labels must be placed at adult eye level (except for Surfacing Level Markers, see instructions below).

Labels help supervisors and parents so that they are informed of these hazards to protect their children. If unsure of the “best” locations to place labels, call for assistance and/or install more than the minimum recommended amount as specified.

  2. SURFACING LEVEL MARKER labels are for equipment that has loose fill surfacing only. These labels ALERT MAINTENANCE STAFF to fluff and/or add surfacing when it gets low! We recommend that you install at least one for every other support post. Install these labels onto the posts at the MINIMUM level where the loose fill surfacing is supposed to be so it is maintained ABOVE that marker. You must consider the Fall Height designated by the manufacturer, ASTM, and CPSC for each unit so the surfacing is maintained above the line on the labels. We find that the SURFACING CHART in the CPSC Guidelines is the most reliable method for determining minimum surfacing depths once you know the Fall Heights.

  3. TOT SEAT AGE GROUP labels) If tot seats share a swing STRUCTURE with other types of seats (tot seats are kept in their own separate BAY as required by CPSC), then place the tot seat labels on the outer legs nearest the tot seats (located in the end bay(s)). The age labels for the other seats (see info below) go on the outer legs nearest those seats. If tot and belt seats are in adjacent bays, never install the label(s) on the center legs as that could confuse caregivers as to which ages apply to which seats. Multiple bays with tot and belt seats (for example) will need the tot seats to be on the outer bay(s). Tot seat age group labels oftentimes are not able to be installed at the entry/entries to the playground since the other age ranges are "2-5", "2-12" or "5-12" for the rest of the equipment, so install the Tot labels on the equipment as noted.

  4. AGE GROUP labels) follow instructions provided in #1 above. Always follow the recommendations for the age range of users for specific components according to the manufacturer, ASTM, and CPSC. If there are different ages allowed or intended for a playground (i.e., tot seats as mentioned above, or different equipment for different ages), then the age ranges of 2-5, 5-12, and 2-12 should be placed on each piece of equipment as it applies and is allowed by ASTM & CPSC. If you have a playground that allows ONLY 2-5 year olds, for example, then ONE "2-5" age group label can be at the entry/entries to the playground.
