Principal Takes Leave of Absence
Miss Rosa Fletcher, has taken a temporary
leave of absence for an indefinite period because of ill health.
Miss Fletcher came to the new Henry Grady High School and worked
unceasingly for the good -of the school. She took charge of the
program of study for Grady students, the credits, and the schedules.
Her efforts on 'behalf of students and teachers was tireless.
She planned all the graduation exercises which were acclaimed
to be most inspiring.
Miss Fletcher is very active in alumni work.
She studied at Columbia University and received her master's degree from Peabody College for Teachers.
After teaching in Toccoa, Georgia, for a while, she came to Atlanta where she taught at Commercial High School for many years before the new school system came into existence.
At Commercial, Miss Fletcher was associated with the English department before becoming assistant principal in 1933. Thirteen years later, she became principal.

Tribute to a Great Lady
Henry Grady High School regrets even the temporary absence of a great lady, Miss Rosa Fletcher. As principal of Grady, Miss Fletcher is revered by Grady students and alumni as one whose hard work and conscientious effort has helped Grady over many of her early trials,
Miss Fletcher's pioneering efforts are appreciated by all who know of the difficulties in organizing and maintaining a new school.
Miss Fletcher has helped numerous students with personal problems, and her kind understanding and valuable advice is remembered by students she has influenced during her years as assistant principal of Commercial High School, as principal of Commercial and now as principal of Henry Grady.
Her friends agree that she is always happiest when she is working the hardest. She proved this by her untiring efforts in the schools.
At Grady, Miss Fletcher spent many weeks of hard work on our schedule of studies for which she merits the most sincere appreciation of every Grady student.
To such a great educator as Miss Fletcher goes only admiration from all who hear of her, gratitude from the thousands she has so selflessly helped, and love from those fortunate enough to know such a truly great lady.
We wish her the best of health, and hope she will soon be able to resume her work in helping high school boys and girls.
